What is considered a hammering?

I know, the question is a little bit weird in honesty but, we have seen so many high scoring games this season (with a lot one sided to a team), what scoreline do exactly we class as a hammering as the game has developed, so have the scorelines also.

For me personally, I'd say if you're beat 3-0, that should then really be a hammering for me. Some may disagree because 4-0 might be a little bit more like it by the amount of them we have seen in the PL this season but for me, I'd like to keep it original. A 3-0 5 years ago even would see a very one sided game and the team on the receiving of the "hammering" would have played poorly. The result + the teams performances should be a fair reflection of a hammering which is why I think 3-0 is a "hammering". Anything more is likely to be an embarrassment really. But as I said, maybe a bit harsh, maybe 4-0 but then again, people have differing opinions I suppose.

But I do think it would be interesting to see what people's opinions are on this.
