Who should be our next captain?

With Vidic and Evra close to leaving the club this season or the next, who would people choose to be the next captain and why?

5* Rooney
4* Carrick
3* Jones
2 * Rafael
1* Evans

Feel free to champion someone else.

Robb

He's certainly better than he's shown so far for us

Whether his best is good enough to be first choice for us we'll just have to see

I'm not that convinced but he needs time yet

Captain Rooney for me. Experience, first team player, vocal. He also has the advanage of being English which if you look at past English club captains (Gerrard, Terry, Shearer) should mean he could get away with a few more things on the pitch. Hopefully would make him play better as well as some do flourish when given responsibility.

To be frank, i don't really care.

Only in England, is there a lot of fuss made over captaincy; a certain sacrosanctity engulfs the captaincy issue. It is often personified by the testestoren-laden, (British) Bulldog ergo the Terrys, Vidics, Gerrards et al.

If Rooney signs a new contract I can't see it being given to anyone else. The lad has been at the club for a decade, and regardless of his off the pitch shenanigans, contract related and otherwise, nobody can fault his commitment or application on match day.

If Jones were a couple of years older, maybe, but as others have said, he needs to nail down a position at the back first.
