Gervinho Appeal

Are you guys concerned that Wenger has hinted that Arsenal may appeal the Gervinho red card, the FA can increase the ban if the deem the appeal to be frivolous (reference to Man Utd appeal a 3 game Rio Ferdinand ban, FA increased in to 4 after it was deemed 'frivolous')

Thoughts guys?

Peace.

Foolish to appeal his ban will be extended for sure.

Players and managers know if you raise your hands, you get sent off if you get caught. In my eyes the appeal is definitely frivolous. They should have just accepted it, rather than risk the extra game being added on. Why run the risk of the FA getting their act together for once.

"Can we appeal against Barton's yellow?"

That was my thought too...nasty, contemptable little man that he is. How does he get away with (and live with himself after) dragging a bloke up by his collars, shouting in his face because he feels (wrongly) he has dived* only to dive himself 5 seconds later when he gets the smallest of slaps. ****. Also shocking the number of players who immediately decided to support Barton's lies - surely they must have known? Cheating cowards, the lot of 'em.

I'm not saying Gervinho wasn't stupid, but with that amount of physical attack, surely mitigation should be come into play?

*It was maybe exaggerated, but there was contact - see it given half the time.

Andrei,

Can't speak for the English FA but I know in Scotland you can't appeal yellows. Might be the same.

You can't appeal the yellow, as the 'incident has already been dealt with by the ref'. But it is a stupid rule. Both players should have gone according to the rules, although 'commonsense' refereeing would have given a yellow to both. The stamp should have been a red. And is diving any better/worse than acting as if you've been hit by Tyson rather than a playground slap? FA needs to come down heavily on such antics.

If they appeal, does that mean he can play in the next match?

Not at all, it's quite literally the same thing, both is a dive - there was a clear second or so as Barton's brain thought 'oh he touched me - best I fall over then', it was similar to R Carlos a couple of years ago who went down waiting to take a corner. Embaressing, just embaressing.

I think that was Rivaldo

Dont see how you can apeal.

You cant go hitting players in the face, it does not matter that Hard Man Barton made a meal of it (face it most peoples Nans could slap harder than what Gervinho did).

I dont think it was right, but then it also proved what a thug Barton was and he made such a meal of that slap, just like Ronaldo used to do with the faintest of touches at Man Utd.

Yeh it was Rivaldo not Carlos. Just the shame as Gervinho's dive = pathetic. Time the FA grew a pair and started banning players for diving.
