Wigan history.... in brief, they were formed in 1932 and played at Springfield park for 67 years ( been there on the grass banking ! )
They moved to the JJB Stadium in 1999 which gave them an upturn in fortunes, with them moving through the leagues culminating in promotion to the Premier League in 2005, in which they spent 8 seasons struggling against inevitable relegation last year.
FA Cup, On the way to winning last seasons FA Cup they thrashed Town with a 4-1 win on 17/02/13 in Mark Robin's first game in charge.
Last Meeting
02/11/13 Wigan 2 Town 1
Previous season meetings 2002-03
Division 2 ( League 1 )
Wigan 1 Town 0 18/09/01
Town 0 Wigan 0 02/03/02
Wigan went up , we went down
Form Guide ( oldest results first )
Wigan DWWLDW 11 points
Town WLWLLL 6 points
Town of late have played some really good football, playing the ball around, having some great possession, tip tappy stuff, then we miss blatant goal scoring opportunities , the other team takes their chances and we lose ! Leeds and QPR being the most obvious.
Hopefully this weekend we can get a more experienced team out, with possibly Clark returning and can we see Wells and Vaughan play up front together for a change, unless Vaughan trips over his laces and hurts his big toe or summat.
Predictions
A tough home double , but with Lolley getting more chances and the VW strikeforce I see at least 4 points from those games.
Town to win 2-1 on Saturday.
It has to get better soon , surley? doesn't it ?

Champers isn't planning anything Yorks - he's just saying we're probably gonna finish about 13th - and I agree with him. That's good progress too - UTT!

No wasn't accusing Champs of anything, just the HT plan. No point in playing to consolidate a safe league position when if we are safe let's aim high-what's to lose ?.

Solid display if not as pretty as our previous games. Norwood was obviously told to mark Gomes out of the game , which he did, but at the expensive of any midfield domination. A lot of longish ball but tbh the conditions were horrendous.
Wigan had one shot on target... despite all the swirling corners they had...and how close was Norwoods 40 yarder !!
great win...roll on Tuesday

Yorks, I agree with you. I'm not saying that's what we should play for, I hope we win every game, I just think that's where we'll end up realistically.

Great result today...the swirling winds totally spoiled any chance of a decent game today...first half pretty even with vaughny missing a sitter off a cross from 6yds then wigan shuda scored mid way through t first half when their number 33 put wide, the dirty barsteward seemed to foul at will yet the ref jus wudni book him despite 3/4bad fouls
first 20 minutes second half it wer backs t wall we simply couldnt string a pass together and wigan failed to take advantage despite numerous corners and shots. wide...gradually town found their feet and the sub wells off for ward changed the game for me...we became far more dangerous with his good corner kicks and he does get in good positions, somrthing wells couldnt
finally chances came norwood struck the underside of t bar only for it to drop into keepers hands and a long freekick inches over t bar...and just when we fought it wer gonna b a draw the bearded wonder struck a lovely.shot Into t net....quality is clayton easily our best player and needs a contract extension soon as possible..I fear he wont be with us long!
Good confidence builder today and decent crowd 15,567 bring on the forest!
Joel lynch had a good game today too and boy we, ve missed him

Although no one has mentioned it, everything changed for the better once Robins brought on Wardy after 60 mins, because for the first 15 mins of the second half we were under the cosh.
So well done Robins for Changing things around and introducing Wardy, because it proved to be the difference between ending up with next to nowt and all three points.
Having said that, although the conditions spoilt the game, I went home well happy with our overall performance and more so the three points we grabbed, although a draw would have been a fairer result, but how many times recently have we not got our just deserts? - so it made a pleasant change and long may it continue.
