Going Forward?

Today I think we were fortunate to win against a very tidy and ORGANISED Everton team.

They pressed us and continually won 50-50 balls, sometimes winning balls that they had no right to win.

We seem to have little shape and drive going forward. This then brings me on to the title of my post.

Going forward, is Tim Sherwood good enough to take us to the next level?

In my opinion the answer has to be no, by his own admission he is not an ideas or tactics person, preferring instead to let the players go out and do their thing.

We have talented and quality players, however they need to be utilised in a productive manner, which we are not currently doing?

So who should be in instead then for the longer term? De Boer has been mentioned yet again this week. He certainly has an excellent record with Ajax and looks like winning a record 4th consecutive title in Holland.
This raises questions, has he taken Ajax as far as he can, bearing in mind that they are now by necessity a selling club?

I think he might well be a good fit at Spurs, he likes to play disciplined attacking football. He also has a good knowledge of European players etc & he would also attract quality Dutch players who are brought up on attractive at tacking style football.

Someone else who is mentioned frequently is Gaal, although he would not be available until after the World Cup.

Thoughts fellow Spurs fans?

Other than getting results. The single most important thing in football

More by luck than judgement there is no way we deserved the points today

Isnt it about time we had some luck buddy?

I certainly cant place "Luck" and "spurs" in the same sentence over the years.

Get fourth and miss out on champions league football, the ontly team in the premier league to gain 71 pts and not get fourth, Lasagne gate, horrendous injuries. No penalties at all last season, awful decisions at old trafford i could go on.

Yes we were lucky to get three points today but how many times have we deserved three points and left with nothing ?

Im chuffed we won today and embrace our luck today.
The moaning on this board is just ridiculous.

I dont think we were lucky today, we scored one more goal than everton who scored none, our goaly made a couple of good saves which he is paid to do, our defence held firm and when they didnt everton players wernt good enough to take their chances and we were

tbf we did look rank going forward again today, so sluggish. HOWEVER, we do deserve a bit of luck and sometimes you just have to win ugly like this afternoon.
The only thing I would've changed in terms of personnel, would've been bringing off Bentaleb for Capoue instead of Paulinho. I can only assume that was to do with match fitness?

Cheer up Grandspur, we have Newcastle away next, we never get anything up there

You wanted AVB out, now you want Sherwood out. Talk about fecccccking fickle. I thought Spurs would lose today but they didn`t, they played rubbish, but it is a results business end of. Pretty football don`t win you points.

You just dont get it do you?

I am not bemoaning our luck I am extremely thankful. But I am also aware that luck does not last which fills me with trepidation for our next game or games. We still have an outside chance of top 4 but if we rely on luck to get it we will fail for sure.

You wanted AVB out, now you want Sherwood out.

Damned right and I will not be happy until such time as we have a manager that is good enough for one of the top teams in the land, which neither Sherwood or AVB were or are.

Pretty football don`t win you points.

Nope but playing decent football and dominating sides will get you a lot more results in the long run than luck does.

Not that I would expect YOU to understand that

When I watch us play, it just doesn't feel right. No real flow to our play. It all seems a bit 'forced', as if nobody actually knows how their teammates operate or what type of pass they like to receive (walker's pass to ade the exception). Watched Everton at the emirates about 6 weeks ago and it seemed like they'd all been playing together for years and like they all knew exactly what they had to do and comfortable doing it.

Which is one of my biggest complaints. The whole thing is laboured and ponderous which is why we are stifling players with natural ability.

Genius greaves

When has Tim Sherwood admitted he isnt a tactician or ideas person?

I certainly havent heard him say this, and i cant see how and why Tim would say this??????

Ridiculous !!

Those were not his exact words, he said you can get bogged down with tactics and ideas. I prefer to let the players express themselves. Now if that us not saying the same then I must be wrong?
