Butland set to sign - Official

According to Stoke City's website the English youth international is set to join on loan.

Must say I'm pleased with this move although very curious as to the reason behind it. Are we covering for Ashdown? Is Kenny off in the summer and were getting ready for next season? I think we can all agree midfield and strikers are the areas we need sorting before the keepers, but hey gd move

Your thoughts .....

I'm assuming Kenny picked up or has been carrying an injury, which is probably why BM has brought in another 'keeper.

Where's frank drebbin when you need him, he'd undoubtedly say Kenny is carrying and injury and that it's been confirmed....! And probably only a few hours ago too, maybe even on this thread...!!

But personally I'm with Lufc_74 I assume Kenny's picked up or carrying an injury...!

Ashdown's injured and hasn't even been on the bench this year. I think it's recognised that Cairns isn't good enougn. Both are out of contract in the summer, and I can't see either contracts being renewed.

I think this is a good move.

This is a good signing until the end of the season.

I suspect it's to cover for injuries, nothing more sinister than that. I expect a shake up in the summer, if Cellino gets acceptance, goalies will be part of that i've not doubt.

I'd be really surprised if we get Butland permanently - Stoke won't throw away £4m, they'll want good money for him. The bonus is as a club we get a few months/matches to see if he can hack in front of a demanding crowd week in, week out. Then if the finances permit it, we can make a more informed decision on whether he suits the team. We may end up with Buffon in goal!?!?!?

I'm not plastic, i go to matches. Paddy hasn't had a bad or good game, he's done his job. I think some dislike the guy because of the NW connection. In the overall scheme of the team, he's not been the worst by any stretch - made some good saves, which seems to have been forgotten. Letting in goals deliberately - thats given me my Friday chuckle.

Stoopo .............. if i'm reading these threads at work (which i am this morning) then i tend to skim read previous posts, so have got that bit wrong. Please accept my most profuse apologies for misquoting sir.

I'll take myself away and apply for a job with the Daily Mirror - mis-quoting people can become a thing of habit - which it appears i'd excel at ............

With your screen name I think 'off with yer head' is more appropriate

No worries. I've misread a few in my time

I'm Caesar - my head's not coming off. That treat is the domain of "plebs"! (a phrase which i believe i can use without fear of arrest, as it's of the period, and quite within context !).
