“The funny thing is we have still got 44 points and if we can get on a run, we can still do something this season. But it’s just talk - I am sat here just talking. All I can do is try and get that right result and performance on Tuesday and I have picked a team to do that."
Doesn't do himself any favours.
This season has been another washout. I'm all for keeping as positive as one can in the face of a meltdown but coming out with nonsense like this merely adds weight to the notion that young Brian hasn't got a scooby.
He'll be telling us next that Hunt is in line for the league's top goalscorer award.....
The eyes of the faithful are upon you Mr McDermott, one can only wonder what imaginative line-up you'll present tonight. Given your recent pre-match statements about picking teams to win and releasing the shackles etc., I'm not expecting much.
Seriously Brian.......

"All you heard from Brian was how he was going to build
We had four players who started on Saturday has loan players."
The idea of building probably soon left Brian's mind when the talks of Cellino taking over occurred.

Jonty .......... you're point 3 i'd say is pretty accurate.
So, of our squad (not loans), which players would you retain (given a blank cheque book).
For me i'd retain;
Ross Mc
Sam B
Jason P
Alex Mowatt (he needs better around him)
Not many really. The rest within the squad for me could all go and we'd not notice any impact. Ruddy Austin started really well for the first few games, then got injured and for me hasn't been the same since. I wish he'd stop trying to score from the 1/2 way line!
Murphy i thought had a decent game (for the first 30 mins!) on Saturday. I still think there's more to come from him, so would perhaps keep hold.
Other than the above, wish we could get Wickham and Butland fulltime - you can see both are head and shoulders above those around them.
I've beena supporter of Lees in the past - but i'm getting less and less convinced.
Major overhaul needed - which it looks like Cellino can spot as easily as the rest of us. If he knows this, but still wants the club - then does that mean he's got serious money to develop and build the squad/club?

Vof if have no problem if we let all of them go.
Mowatt and Byram have good potential and are young but would we be coveting them if they were in opponents side?
Ross I'm just not sure about. I just have gut feeling that he's not conducive to a happy camp, does that've sense?
Am with you on butland and wickham.

Hang on hail, you used to hammer me for saying lees was rubbish, what was it now, I don't know what am on about because Pearce picks him

Agree
Butland I thought was poor Saturday but would take him
Wickham is a strange one for me, way over rated, going to be over priced but there could be a cracking player in him. Unless there a huge war chest, I wouldn't be blowing 4-5m on him

Jonty - agree with all your points.
I think the take-over talk doesn't need to be a distraction, but the problem is that everyone now knows that BM is living on borrowed time.
Hence no chance of any sort of future planning.

I'd think the players know more than anyone around here what is around the club!..
Poor displays from most some of the time and some most of the time, the question has to be asked how long has our boss in waiting been paying their wages, and how much is the hold up playing on their minds?..
I'd be worried if someone was paying my wages and not knowing how long for!..
I'd bet it'd make some here under preform!..

Liw ........... i did used to hammer you about Lees. Yes i reckon you're being proved right. But back then i wanted him to have more time to develop, preferably alongside someone decent.
Well in my opinion he's had his chance alongside a good defender (Pearce), and he's just not cutting it.
I'll hold my hand up and say it seems i've got it wrong .....

All Cesar
I'd rather you'd have been right.
Shame because it's always great to see youngsters come good.
Anyone watch killock the other night, I only saw last ten minutes

Liw - at times he's great (Lees). He's filled out, so not the bean pole he was. He's just prone to falling asleep from what i see. There's still part of me hopes he can yet come good, and i mean really good. Somebody (Stuart Pearce) must have seen something in him, or the selectors did. He was picked to play alongside the best talent in the country in theory, so they must have seen something. Either that or we're so desperately short on CBs coming through!
I'm all for youngsters coming through, but only if they're good enough - i don't want them just because they're local.

I wouldn't trust Pearce with picking my local pub team
