Would it not be possible to do the thumbs up and down thing to every comment and if the comment gets a certain amount of "dislikes" then the comment becomes hidden, and only visible if you click on it? That way no content is deleted and if you want to see the nonsense you can? I have seen it on other sites

this could really help the site what will all the wums and annoyances, we need something that will make sure articles dont get out of hand. (that sunderland article that got about 10000000 comments just on the word 'lol') i dont like how if the OP deletes a comment, thats that. we cant look at it or comment about it. the like button coud also be a popular feature to.
