Having watched most of our games this season, I think i've hit on our biggest problem: We have more than enough players who are willing to pass and dribble, but we lack players who are willing to make a run. You can have 90% of possession in a football match, if no one is willing to run past a defence and beat the offside trap, most of it is useless ball hogging.
Looking at our usual front three of Hazard-Oscar-Willian, none of them is a player with great movement. Hazard is a world class dribbler and can spot a pass, which is how he gets most of his goals. Oscar is more of a dribbler. As for Willian, I have to admit I don't rate him. Sure, he works hard but as he showed last night his shooting is poor and he dilly dallies on the ball, often making a poor passing decision and to top it all off his movement doesn't strike me as particularly intelligent.
Looking at our strikers, Eto'os goals usually come from pressing the opposition, add that to his allergy to shooting from a half-decent position and you have another player whose movement is either non-existent or futile (when he decides to pass 10 yards backwards from a good shooting position). With Torres its hit or miss, when he's in the mood he makes good runs, more often than not however he's a ghost. As for Ba tbh I haven't watched him enough to form a judgement but he has a tendency to get caught offside alot.
Schurrle, I think, would bring more of a balance to our game. We are in urgent need of someone to run beyond a defence from a deep position and watching most of Schurrle's goals seem to come this way. He is not without defects, his passing is sometimes erratic, but to me he seems an upgrade on Willian.
Anyway, a decent Game last night and the future looks bright
Schurrle Must be a Starter

With Willian suspended (however unfairly) Schurrle should start against Arsenal, I hope he really imposes himself on this game, it is a great opportunity.

I think we could do a lot worse than trying Schurrle up front, even if it's just for one game.

Twice Schurrle was in the clear last night and the player on the ball took the wrong option and shot instead.
He was running better lines than Torres looking for the ball being played in behind the defenders. Its difficult when he only get to start the odd game because Willians work rate is better.

glad someoneelse noticed that. And it must be frustrating, when Schrulle comes on he is direct and attacking, our players build up play is so slow he bypasses it. (hazard against fulham was perfect, quick ball to him and schrulles run made him in on goal)
Willian bursts past players for fun but then just stops, our finishing product, movement and passing is really bad.

Schurrle's too inconsistent to be anything more than a squad player right now

Cant believe we sold Mata for Willian.
Honestly, he works hard but is a glorified Kalou.
