*Roy Castle trumpet solo*

This article is dedicated to the great David Moyes. He has strived this season to not only break but to smash records.

Here is a list of what he has achieved in his first season. It truly is remarkable, that one man has managed to achieve so much in so little time.

1. Utd suffered their first defeat to WBA at Old Trafford since 1978 – 35 year old record broken

2. Utd suffered their first defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford since 1972 – 41 year old record broken

3. Utd suffered their first defeat to Everton at Old Trafford since 1992 – 21 year old record broken

4. Utd suffered their first league defeat to Stoke since 1984 – 30 year old record broken

5. Utd suffered their first ever defeat to Swansea at Old Trafford ever. To be fair to Moyes the two clubs have only ever played each 11 times , but still it’s a another record broken

6. It is the first time Utd have conceded a goal in the first minute at OT in the PL - record broken

7. It is the first time City and Liverpool have both done the double over United in the PL. - record broken

8. It is the first time ever that all of Utd's Northwest rivals (Everton, Liverpool and City) have all won at OT in the same season

9. 51 points from 31 games is the lowest points tally at this stage since the Premier league began (1992) – 22 year old record broken

10. They have suffered TEN Premier League defeats this season, their worst total since the top flight was revamped in 1992 – record broken

11. Utd are on course for their worst-ever points total in the Premier League. Their lowest total is 75, which they posted in 1996-97 and 2003-04. Even if they win their remaining 7 games, which is unlikey to happen, they won't get above 72 points - record broken

12. This season United have scored just 18 goals at Old Trafford in the Premier League, equal to bottom club Fulham. They have scored 48 in total and need to plunder 10 more goals to equal their worst tally in a Premier League season, which was 58, back in 2004-05. Can they score 10 in their last 7 games? If not record broken!

This should be required reading for Moyes apologists. Also quite funny.

Why? Because we've had bad season? Records are there to be broken. Just ask the Dippers about 18

OP
I think you missed a few records that were broken this season. from top of my head

Most crosses in a match
three penalties conceded at OT

Might be a good honest bloke but he's out of his depth, there's no clue in that dugout anymore, not a clue.

I'm really apathetic to it all to be honest. I thought I would have really loved watching Utd's demise. To be honest he wasn't exactly left with the best team going which just goes to show what a good job Ferguson did last year.
Moyes hasn't helped himself with his tactics or signings. I get the feeling Mata was forced on him as he is definitely not a Moyes type of player.

I have nothing really against optimism, but I do against mindless optimism.

There is nothing in Moyes track record to say he can do any better.

Don't agree wth this, the team and squad is decent, arguably better than Spurs and Everton in my opinion. Their first team should be on par with us and Arsenal. There one real weakness is central midfield but then Arsenal have a weakness up front, we have a weakness at the back. Its not a good enough team to win the league without Ferguson at the helm, but it should be competing for top 4.

Saying the players aren't good enough is an excuse and it's letting Moyes of the hook. The real problem is that Moyes hasn't a clue. He has no idea how to set up a team, he has no idea how they should be playing football, the team has no identity; should it be possession based keeping the ball and putting pressure on a team; should it be counter attacking; its a complete muddle. He has no idea how to fit Mata, Rooney and RVP into the same team effectively. Even if Mata and Fellaini were panic buys he should have some idea how to fit them in to make Man Utd a effective unit. The team is am es tactically and that is down to Moyes.

At the very least i expected a Moyes team to show passion, to show some aggression, a bit of fight but this team is insipid. That is agin down to Moyes na dno tht eplayers. Its his job to motivate, its his job to manage them, to tell them how he wants to play.
