The title says it all.
Can someone please tell me how after one inept performance after another this guy keeps getting picked when others have been dropped for far less worse performances.
Tim Bresnan

first test match of the summer.. this wll be the 11
Cook (c)
Root
trott
Bell
Morgan (hes not done anything at test level but who cares)I would go for Moeen ali (no chance because hes not being picked)
Stokes
Prior( on last legs but wont be jetterson for Buttler)
Bresnan (in for his batting)
Broad
Anderson
Panesar (never done it at home but who cares bowls economically
Even if the likes of Onions or Jordan have taken loads of wckets before the frst test of the summer in mid June.
They will still go for Tim Bresnan.

I have a feeling they will go for Robson
Cook, Robson, Trott, Root, Bell, Stokes, Prior wk, Borthwick, Jordan, Broad, Anderson.
I think England will go with that team, subject to early CC form.

Just looking at the scores and bowling figures for the current game. right now Bresnan as bolwed one over and hes in the team as a front line bowler.
It seems like they are protecting him from being dropped.
They got ridda of Jade Dernbach.. But big bressie is untouchable.

It would seem Bresnan is untouchable. I can see their reasons for picking him but if he isnt delivering which nine times out of ten he doesnt then he shouldnt be there. Picking him at no8 in the test team because he can bat a bit is not a reason to be picked. Yes Australia have Siddle Johnson and Harris who can all bat but they take wickets.
As far as the test team goes, personally im amazed Cook has not resigned as captain after the Ashes humiliation. Im certain Michael Clarke would have if he was in the same position. I see no reason why Trott should automatically walk back into the side. If he starts the season well for Warwicks then fine. The other person who needs to start well is Anderson, hes not been firing since about the second test last summer. There has to be some pressure on him to perform
I would personally of scrapped central contracts for this season and said to some of the senior players you want them you earn them. As well as Australia played, the performance of the senior team was a disgrace and unacceptable. They just looked like they did not want to be there.
My test XI Cook (c), Hales/Robson, Bell, Morgan, Root, Buttler, Stokes, Jordan, Borthwick, Broad, Anderson.
Im not a Cook fan as captain but dont see abetter option which is worrying . Why not have a look at Hales as opener ? Root back down to five where he was doing well before. Dont think Stokes is quite a number six, and whilst i feel both he and Buttler have still got a lot to learn they are the way forward and Jordan has done more than enough to earn his chance. I would personally like to see Broad as first change bowler rather than strike bowler.
There are bowlers like Topley and Mills who are knocking on the door and if the some of the senior bowlers continue to underperform they should be in, otherwise what is the point ? W

Agree with a lot of jobs points.
But a reality check for all us Englishmen...
Hales was dropped from Notts CC team for averaging 9 last season (I think it was 9). Even he would be surprised at a call up.
Buttler also has work to do on his batting and keeping.
Mills as promising as he sounds, cannot get in the Essex team.
However, there are some positives and glad to see someone point out Topley.
IF the season starts well for Robson, Trott, Prior and Finn, I would be looking at this team.
Cook c, Robson, Trott, Root, Bell, Stokes, Prior wk, Borthwick. Broad, Finn, Anderson.
Back up: Taylor, Buttler, Jordan, Overton, Kerrigan
I must admit I don't get the Morgan calls. I think he lacks technique for Tests, as his average suggests.
I can sit here and say this player and that player but the backbone is the coach and captain. Giles is a good coach and nice fella, but lacks that bite, that tenacity. I would be going for Vaughan or Hussain. Both are previous England Captains, are knowledgeable and good man managers.
I woukd also stick with Cook, whose record prior to the Ashes was good.
In the one day and T20 set up, Morgan would be captain.

Good point on Mills - Fast tracked by the look of it.

I would hate to see trott walk straight back into this team after what happened. Moen or Taylor now should be ahead of him. I also can't handle the though of robson as he is an Aussie.

Has Compton official been binned? I'd give the lad another go as opener.
A Root will always be in the team just shift him to no5/6
I'd also stick with Buttler as wicket keeper or at least make him official backup to prior. If i see that ginge Bairstow i wont be happy.
