So Capt. Fabby will be up for grabs

With Barcelona's transfer ban suspended (probably forever) Cesc Fabregas will more than likely be up for grabs this summer as the fans don't want him and they could well cash in in order to strengthen in other areas. Should we bid? We have some kind of clause that, let's face it no one knows what it does, some sort of first refusal but I still don't understand how you can make a player go to a club if they don't want to go. Surely our option to bid before other clubs is irrelevant if he won't agree personal terms. Could we convince him to come? Would he want to go? Would he go anywhere else in England over us? Would he come if Wenger leaves? Is the prospect of getting Fabregas back worth enduring two/three more dreadful years of Wenger? Do we need him?

All important questions, the answer is probably we should take him back in a heartbeat but he'd only come if Wenger is here. For me it would probably be worth keeping Wenger simply because my love for Cesc outweighs my utter boredom with Wenger. I hear people are saying with Ozil we don't need Cesc but for me I'd have him play where Arteta does, Fabregas for me was always best playing from deep where can see the full picture. You don't neccesarily need a huge dominating powerful DM if you have players like Fabregas and Ramsey playing alongside each other who have great engines, are aggressive and rarely lose the ball.

Could look like this

Fabregas Ramsey

Walcott Ozil Oxlade Chamberlain/Santi Cazorla/Podolski

New Striker

All speculation obviously but a bit of fun to discuss...

If dreams came true and he did come bam please noone call him 'Capt. Fabby'

This. Plus I hope he isn't anywhere near the captaincy. One of the worst captains the club has had.

World class player though. Would claim his place back as the world's no 1 play maker. and this time also take the mantle of the best midfielder in the world. Just because it didn't work out for him at Barca doesn't mean he's bad, as Barca fans say. The fact he was always the main man for creativity since the age of 18, and all off a sudden is like just another midfielder, that affects the player's game hard. Look at Neymar too, he's the main man for Brazil, but at Barca he is just another winger.

We all wanted Fabregas to be captain and it didn't work out great. We all thought Vermealen would be an amazing captain and he isn't all that. Right now Mertesacker seems the logical choice but it could also have a negative effect like it did with Cesc/TV

FFS, he finished a game for us on a broken foot. And even converted a late penalty. That's what you call a captain.
Something ....something ......lionheart.........English......... you know the rest.

If he was available, we really cannot let the opportunity pass to have him back. I know we're stocked in his position, but he has the ability to play in several positions, giving us options and flexibility:

Ozil to play on the left and cesc through the middle - The opposition would struggle to pick them both up, and the service to our new striker and theo would be sublime

He can play in the attacking mid role, rotating with ozil, can play in ramseys position as box to box, or could line up as a deep lying playmaker / DM in a Pirlo type role, where young cesc actually started his career.

There's also the option to play him as a false 9, where he has looked very effective for Barcelona.

Surely we couldn't pass up the opportunity for him to come back?

Certainly can't let him go to any other prem club

Why does this happen every year - fans discussing where x player 'will' play when they join when it's never going to happen. Even if Cesc does leave Barca, it won't be to Arsenal.

I'd love to see Fabregas back.
True, he plays a roughly similar game to Ramsey so they probably wouldn't work in the same team, but here we have the joys of rotation. Fabregas scores more goals than Cazorla and Ozil combined, probably as many near-enough as Ramsey.
And yep, goals are important.

You can never have too many midfielders at The Arsenal. We wear them out by the week. Must be something to do with the MMA-style training methods.

If Fabregas is available then we have to get him, he is world class when played in the right position and although I don't blame a Catalan wanting to play for Barcelona I am hoping he now realises he is an Arsenal man

At Arsenal anyone given captaincy ends up leaving... Me thinks we don't need a captain. A ball boy of the day can have the armband.... That said welcome back Fab
