Shaw deal 'close'

Manchester United are convinced a £30m deal to buy Luke Shaw on a £100,000 a-week salary is virtually complete in what is viewed as a major coup over Chelsea, with the sacked David Moyes largely responsible for convincing the Southampton left-back to spurn the club he supports.

Moyes had laid the groundwork for the signing before he got sacked. That's a lot of money to be invested into a talented prospect but it also gives us signs we are spending big this summer.

id argue that full back is quite an important position to play, got to be offensively good enough to provide an attacking wide option, whilst defensively efficient enough to cope with a pacey/tricky winger, all whilst having the energy levels to do this week in week out for 90 minutes with the knowledge that a lapse in concentration leaves your centre backs exposed and likely outnumbered

wouldn't this break the record for the highest amount paid for a teenager?

Money doesn't matter, he may guarantee 12 years of quality service.

Luke Shaw is good but nowhere worth £30m. He's not even the best LB, Azpilicueta has been outstanding and yes not worth that much. The only reasonable excuse is because his age, selling with the same league and he is English.

I for one have seen nothing and I mean nothing from Shaw to inspire the confidence so many have in his abilities.
------------------------------------------------
that doesnt make you right and everybody else that rates him wrong.
========================

Who are these people that rate him? His fellow English men that have rated Ashley Young, Phil Jones, etc. Right?

The top priority for us is to strengthen our midfield
----------------------------------------------
And buying a quality LB, Did you forget all the goals conceded from the left
========================

You do realise that if we had a midfield capable of protecting the back 4 we would not have conceded so many goals, right?

30m on an 18 year old who has done nothing yet
----------------------------------------------------------------
first choice for a PL team that is currently at 8th
=================
So what?

Already an England international
===========
1 cameo appearance, Rodwell has more appearances

Already has a fully develop defensive game
==================

No 18 year old on planet earth has a fully developed football game. Sorry.

Not quite "done nothing yet"
=================
He has done fk all

He is a decentish player, not even worth 15m

Seems people cant do basic mathematics. £30m over 10 - 12 yrs (which is how long he could potentially be atthe club) = .....

Bargain.
