Kudos to Chelsea

They stopped the flow of the game remarkably well and put in a perfect away performance at Anfield. If there is any mantra to beat us at home that was it. Pressing us high up the field in our half actually favours us as this leaves spaces in midfield so what Jose did was instruct his players to compress their half of the field and my word they did excellently. I have never once this season seen us try so many long range efforts and put in a very high number of balls into the box as we did today. Shows how well they managed to flaw our general smooth approach by taking their time and playing that defensive shape.

I know we all have an opinion on Jose Mourinho and Chelsea in general as a club but kudos to them as they are a big game team and doing the double over both us and City shows it. They stick to their defensive strengths remarkably well and best of luck to them to them against a similar team in Atleti in Europe. Not once did I see any of our front three run at their defence in that pocket of space between midfield and defence which you could have thrown a blanket over today - that's how tight it was.

Back to us and as I type this City have it in their grasp in my opinion with them currently leading 2-0 at Selhurst Park. A loss will have affected the players' confidence and Steve Peters has to do his work this week with them and not let them worry about other results except our own. Now was Rodgers naive today to set us up like he did knowing how Chelsea would play. In my opinion maybe but he's a coach who sticks to his guns and our main bullets are those attacking players who unfortunately couldn't get past Chelsea today. No doubt he will learn.

As for Stevie, chin up lad you've carried this club for a long long time and win or lose we're all in together. There may be another twist yet to come with City playing Everton and us travelling to London next week but all we can do now is get back and win those last two games.

Good article Kev H

One point.. That goal we got from the Gerrard slip today.. I think people need to remember the lucky break you got when Kompany sliced his clearance a few weeks back as well.. City were on the ascendancy at that point and you got a gift there too. Swings and roundabouts

Spurs shirts are the worst sellers

My sister was over from New Hampshire last and I had to buy one for her forest gump of a son back in the states. Could we find one anywhere in Canterbury? No. Only those toffs retro ones from back when they were less irrelevant in the 60s. She said " not a very big club are they"
I laughed to my self. Little did she know how small.

See this is the Guardian Chels ?

It was brilliant. It was the perfect storm of Liverpool fans and players believing they had pretty much won the title, surfing on a wave of confidence, and then along comes Mourinho casually takes down his jogging bottoms and lays a steaming t urd right in front of them.
