Kompany - A Great Captain

As a player Vincent Kompany is a centre back that is the envy of the rest of the clubs in the Premier League. Without him I doubt that City would be champions this year.

But it is Kompany the man that has impressed me this season. He says all the right things, shows real leadership on the pitch and is honest in interviews.

His ability as a captain was highlighted excellently in the title celebrations this afternoon. Refusing to lift the trophy unless the fringe/youth players (Some of whom may not have played even a minute) joined in with the 1st team on the platform to celebrate. Showed he knows the real elements of a club and a team with that gesture, particularly important given the squad of stars and the wages on offer at City.

Also involving the manager in the celebrations (The bumps) was great to see, when teams do well players tend to receive the most of the praise, when they're poor the managers get the chop. Clear to see that Kompany and Pellegrini have a great relationship and that it flows throughout the rest of the dressing room.

One of those rival players you can't help but like.

One of the very few. Toure and Bergkamp the only ones from other title winning sides in recent memory. Everyone else is a cant.

Bergkamp was a sly git, never liked him.

Demichelis turned out to be one of the signings of the season in the end.

-------

No he is chit, the only reason City had a good defensive record is because of Kompany being the best defender in the world, he carried that poor man city team on his shoulders.

Demichelis has been better than Kompany this season, Ron. Last few games he has looked class.

Ron thinks that too, he was being sarcastic.

Ron, I admit City have been poor and I don't know why we persevere with the likes of Silva, Yaya and the rest of our ragtag collection of egotistical no-hopers.

Kompany has been chit this season. Even Demichelis has been better.

Ron this team has just desrevedly won the PL Crown by playing exciting, entertaining free flowing football. If the only post that you could think of on this thread was a negative one then why did you bother?
Yes it is a forum and everyone is entitled to an opinion and it is not compulsory to agree with the OP.
However, VK is a world class defender, this is agreed upon by tv pundits, players, ex-players, most opposing fans and journalists. He has not been at his best this season admittedly and he has been injured for part of it, but to come on this thread and make such utterly ridiculous comments as" he has been chit this season" and "he is overrated" the very next day after he has lifted the PL Trophy for the second season in 3 says a whole lot more about you and either your bitterness or lack of football knowledge.
