We have been slated recently for planning to release Lescot, Barry and probably Sinclair. The accusation is that City does not like to field English talents. Even though we had Hart and Milner both of whom played consistently over the last season.
So my question is this:
How many English/homegrown first team players do you think should be acceptable to a title challenging PL club?
I use "title challenging" because of the added pressure which such teams and managers are underMand they don't have the luxury of trial and error.

But what if such talents are not available?

With all the money (and players) and resources you have, isn't it shame for your club finishing at the bottom in above list?

How does money, wealth or resources equate to how many English players in your squad? Please explain. If there are not enough English players available at the level required to compete in the CL how can you sign them if they don't exist? No amount of wealth can make that happen so your point is just plain stupid.

How many foreign players were there between 1971 and 1985? How were the national team in that period...?

There were 37 foreign players at English Premier League clubs in 92/93 season.

In 92 there were 12 foreign players in the league, and academies did not contain foreigners

I take it, for the sake of this discussion, the Irish, Scots, etc. are not foreigners.

Hard to see how their presence was any less detrimental to the England team than say, a Frenchman.

Says who?
Did you take time to read the response on this thread before posting that comment?
Now that Liverpool are in the CL, lets see how many youths you give a chance when you play away to say Madrid. .
I bet you will be the first calling for Flano to be dropped and replaced with a better foreign player after he is been skinned by Bale or Ronaldo.
