'We need 7 or 8 players'

For me DDG, Rafael, Jones, Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj, RVP and Rooney are all good enough as starters.

Bring in a LB, CB, and 2 CMs and with the right manager we will be title challengers again.

I think all those players are good enough to start, but it's unlikely that Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj, RVP and Rooney would all start one game together, given how attacking minded they all are. In an ideal world we would bring in around 5 players, but they do need time to gel etc. For me it's the midfield area that is most important - control that, and we can dictate games and then whoever we play up front will have the chance to create a decent number of chances.

It will also relieve a bit of stress on our defence if they aren't always open due to a superior opposing midfield controlling games.

Improvements can definitely be made in defence, but a couple of midfielders is key for me - get the midfield sorted and we should be top 4 at the very least, an extra defender or 2, and I really do believe we can realistically challenge.

The hardest thing in the world is to get a new squad to gel, so rather than bring in a whole raft of new players in one season, it may be sensible to sort out the key areas, and then a bit more fine tuning the season after that.

Even allowing for all of last season's disappointments, I don't think we are that far away from a very good squad, it's just that we are short-handed in the most vital area - central midfield

Where do you think Jones is good enough to start for us? Because as a CB Smalling and Evans are both better at this minute. I like Jones but he has a lot to learn if he is to be a CB starter for us.

Is this Clasie kid good enough?

Before his assist for RVP last week I don't recall a single person here mentioning his name now his name pops up every day.

It seems like no one here actually knows much about this kid but is happy to claim we will and should go after him, it's ridiculous.

I think given a run of games at CB alongside a partner Jones will be the better CB of him Smalling and Evans.

And Alex Ferguson, Roy Hodgson and David Moyes are all to blame.

That lad has played right back and midfield more than he's actually played in his natural position at CB.

We've done our best to try and ruin the lad well before his peak years.

There's actually been times at Utd where Jones has played 3 consecutive games for this club in 3 different positions.

We're a joke at times with playing players out of position. Did Rio become the player he is by playing fullback? What about Terry? Vidic? Stam? I could go on and on and on.

I feel sorry for Jones.

Smalling and Evans are better than Jones. Smalling plays well with either but Evans and Jones don't seem to gel. Evans can bring the ball out of defense.

At least a winger, maybe another CB depending on what happens there with the current lot and those coming through. That's 5 if we include the previous must. If Rafael can't get over his constant injuries and the 3 deserve players can't step up, then it becomes another position to fill. And that's not taking into account how Rooney or RVP be by then. So a total of Six.

Having reread what I wrote the first time, it should be 'we may* need a few more.'
