Probably a load of shiiiiiit but to be honest, if they do offer us £40m for him, I'd sell him.
I think he's a top top player but I just can't see a day when Rooney or RVP is sacrificed for him so we'd be better off selling him rather than getting 50% of his talent by playing him in a less favored role.
Swap for Cesc? Both valued at roughly the £40m mark.
Mata to Barca?

I suppose we'll see won't we. We're ALL just guessing.
Going to be a LONNNNNG summer.

No, Just no
Mata is vital to transforming our style to a modern, possession based one. He is the most important player in LVG's plans, Its stupid to get rid off him, This is a non story

This place has turned into bizarro world.
I sincerely doubt we'll buy a single player in any position this summer who is better than Mata.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of all the players that we are linked with, Only Cesc and Robben can be compared with Mata on the basis of skill and talent

We should be grateful we have someone of Mata's ability because we certainly aint going to bring in anyone better this summer.

Agree with Robb all the way here. And LVG is a ridiculously intelligent man. He won't leave Mata out. And if it came down to a choice between Mata and Rooney (which won't by any means necassarily be the case) I would choose Mata every time, good as Roonet is.

Only way I can see us playing all three effectively is playing the 4-1-2-1-2 formation. But that would mean leaving out all the wingers and relying on the fullbacks to provide the width.
Playing Rooney wide left to accommodate Mata at 10 or Playing Mata wide right to accommodate Rooney at 10 just won't work.
I think it's safe to assume as long as RVP is fit and healthy, he'll play.
--------------------Rooney----RVP
---------------------------Mata
-----------------------CM------CM
--------------------------Carrick
That's the only way I could see it working but that would be quite a contrast to what Utd are used to and what Van Gaal does too.

Rooney can play as wide/inside forward, He was great in that role when we had Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo.

BEE ESSS That's BS to you ....Mata goes and it would prove United has gone insane.
