I sincerely doubt we'll buy a single player in any position this summer who is better than Mata.

We should be grateful we have someone of Mata's ability because we certainly aint going to bring in anyone better this summer.

Agree with Robb all the way here. And LVG is a ridiculously intelligent man. He won't leave Mata out. And if it came down to a choice between Mata and Rooney (which won't by any means necassarily be the case) I would choose Mata every time, good as Roonet is.

Only way I can see us playing all three effectively is playing the 4-1-2-1-2 formation. But that would mean leaving out all the wingers and relying on the fullbacks to provide the width.

Playing Rooney wide left to accommodate Mata at 10 or Playing Mata wide right to accommodate Rooney at 10 just won't work.

I think it's safe to assume as long as RVP is fit and healthy, he'll play.

That's the only way I could see it working but that would be quite a contrast to what Utd are used to and what Van Gaal does too.

Rooney can play as wide/inside forward, He was great in that role when we had Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo.
