Miranda

Lot of noise that we have bid or are bidding for Miranda from Atletico Madrid. 29 year old Brazilian CB has been a consistent performer there and exciting news if true.

How much did RVP cost? If the guy is as good as has been reported, we will get 4 years of quality service from him. Why are people so obsessed with age around here. Apparently the guy is positionally a very sound defender. We have got a lot of defenders in their early 20s, a guy like this is exactly what we need after losing vidic and Ferdinand.

Do not know much about him. Though agree with those that say if we are going to pay c£25M for a defender then I would imagine alternative / better options may be wise following up...

I guess we have to trust our scouting team.. but I am not convinced paying that amount of money for a 30 year old (in sept) ..

Miranda was an absolute disaster until Simeone took over. Even Atlético fans were mystified as to what their scouts had seen in him.

A good defender, in fact a very good defender. I feel that we need a leader at the back though after losing 2 cbs who were both captain of the club. Miranda has never struck me as a leader.

Suit yourself. I presume you know more Atletico fans than I do.

Didn't say that but even if u know atletico fans who judges a new player moving to a new continent so quickly? Lol. He's been a vocal point for atletico attributing to them winning major silverware for the first time in yeas even scoring in a final if I recall?

What I said is that he was a walking disaster until Simeone arrived. Got sent off in his debut match for them if I don't recall wrongly. His early performances were so poor that some Atletico fans even said they preferred Perea! As for judging a player so soon after moving, every set of fans does it. How many chances did Aspas get at Liverpool this season before he was ajudged to be useless? I'm sure you could think of a few examples of your own if you put your mind to it.

My personal opinion is that there are very few players capable of shining regardless of the system they're played in, because all players have their strengths and weaknesses. They can look just as good if the system exploits their strengths and they can look bad when the system highlights their weaknesses.

again walking disaster is a bit strong. And I don't know, most the chelsea fans I watch matches with would never judge a player until a whole season has been completed. God knows some of us are still giving torres a chance
