Apparently Stevie Gerrard is beside

himself with grief at England`s early exit from the World Cup. I bet he is, he will no doubt be jetting off for extra two weeks holiday when he get`s back to the UK, without a care in the world. It`s the poor fans who should be besides themselves with grief having wasted an absolute fortune following the dross that is the England football team.

Poor Stevie

I see England are going with youth tomorrow night, Frankie Lampard captain. This is definitely the way forward.

gerrard
greatest English player of his generation???

Paul scholes has the medals and plaudits to make that statement factually incorrect.

And I'm a city fan.

Sandy you make more comments about lfc then you do spurs. You probably sit in your exec seat in five hart lane paid for by you son in law just so he doesn't need to listen to your bile and all the while you text away about liverpool

Id feel sorry for you if I didn't know you were an old git

I don't get the gag about 'five hart lane'. Am I missing something?

No, that doesn't make it factually incorrect. The only thing that is factually incorrect is your assumption that team achievements show how good an individual player is. It would be more factually correct, if that's what you're looking for, to compare individual achievements.

Medals aside, Paul Scholes was clearly a better player than Gerrard, who is only elevated to superstatus by a media that creams itself over everything he does. Scholsey all day long was far, far better.

Scholes has suddenly went from a very good underrated player in his playing time to the best English player in the last twenty years since he's retired. Despite never really performing for Wngland, whilst Gerrard was England's best player at the previous two competitions to this one.

Who knows maybe when Gerrard retires he'll get the credit he deserves.

When Scholes was in his prime, if you asked people who were the top 5 midfielders in the world at the time, he would have never made the list. Now he's apparently better than all of the midfielders ever other than Zidane. Weird that.

And he was as good as Gerrard, just a generation older.

The Kaiser's Trainers

Scholes has never been one of the top five midfielders in the world, that is not the argument. But he was better than Gerrard, who also has never been one of the top five midfielders in the world just for the record.
