For me Aaron Ramsey and Arturo Vidal are two very similar players and share many qualities. Both could be regarded as the 'engines' of their respective teams. Both are very much box to box players, and though Ramsey is no slouch himself, Vidal edges it in the defensive department while Ramsey, especially this year has more of a cutting edge in the final third. Ramsey's vision and passing ability is superb I'd say, Vidal on the other hand is more of a 'give it to me and I'll put a scorcher into the back of the net' type of player (but we have seen Ramsey with a few screamers of his own)
The point of this article is, why spend an obsecene amount of money on a position where we have a young, incredible midfielder who is just as hungry as Vidal and, arguably, has a slightly higher ceiling potential-wise?
Ramsey = a young Arturo Vidal.

Ramsey + Vidal would be an amazing box to box partnership. Pipe dream though

I don't know if we're even interested in him. Just meant that if we were, that might be why. It seemed that your article was about why we'd be after Vidal. I thought that was a good question. Are you now saying that it's moot?

Ramsey and Vidal would work. It'll be back to Fabregas and Flamini partnership. Except that both Ramsey and Vidal are world class and both are capable with the ball in final third. I think if one stays back (Vidal) and one goes forward (Ramsey) with one other midfielder such as Wilshere being either the deepest or sitting in with Vidal could work. Then vidal and Ramsey can rotate whenever.

But we don't play with an out and out DM anyway
------------------------------------------------------
I keep hearing this stuff but it's a myth. As far as tactical positioning goes, Arteta is one of the purest defensive midfielders in the Premier League who rarely strays from his central midfield station. He just lacks the athleticism and natural aggression to properly execute the job.

Or maybe Arteta legs have given way much like Stevie G so he has to sit back. Though I would like Wenger to go out and buy a pure DM. Liking Willian Carvalho but seems a year or two away from consistency at top level.

Get Vidal as Ramsey will be sold next summer to United / City. Deep down the guy wants to be at United.

LOL Ramsey and Vidal are nothing like each other at all. And when Vidal was Ramsey's age, he was sitting on Leverkusen's bench. I swear people form their opinions on players from what they read on here and not from what they've actually seen.

i cant see juve selling vidal he is way too important to that team especially if the rumors about Pogba to PSG are correct. Juve fans will bloody riot in the streets.
