In the interest of board activity, and not just flooding the super popular Fantasy article with bits.....
Earlier today someone mentioned Johnny Manziel, and basically questioned how effective he'll be, and if he'll even get enough snaps to make an impact.
Everything I read indicates to me that his personal lifestyle will become a liability to him truly succeeding. His 'extra circular' activities seem to greatly over shadow his potential, and the season hasn't even started yet. I think you can see it with RG3 too at times, there's a willingness to create a 'brand', more than a footballing legacy. That's not to say either QB lacks talent, but I question the people around him who seemingly allow him to go all out and perhaps leave a bad taste in some supporters mouths before he's even thrown on a shirt.
On the flip side of course, he has just been drafted, and come in to a ton of money, should he be shown patience and his lifestyle be brushed aside as 'just another young guy partying through summer'.
I'm not convinced.
I look at Luck and Wilson as polar opposites; guys who want to succeed in football, and have the mentality of a football QB every minute of the day.
Luck is known for scouring over game tapes in his spare time, been a humble, hard worker with a solid appreciation of his inexperience in the great scheme of things, regardless of how highly thought of he is. This short interview is a great example of his mind set.

Wilson is similar, been renowned for representing himself, and his team, 24/7. He does a huge amount of work with charities, is an ambassador for a Diabetes charity in the US (His dad passed away to it in 2010) and recently was voted as PFWA's 'Good Guy' of the year. This is a kid focused on his profession.
Manziel strikes me as an over privileged child, and personally, even with all the talent in the world, I wouldn't want that to be the face of my organization. There's already plenty to suggest that Brown's management aren't happy, although publicly they just look to palm his behaviour off and not exactly scold him. .

Looking at public opinion, articles like this aren't exactly hard to come by online...

I suppose if there's a question to all this, it's has anyone seen anything in him to suggest that the potential reward out weighs the risk? Is there an absolute talent there capable of leading a team like the Browns? Or was he just the best of the bunch and plugged a hole?
For the more experienced guys, does he remind you of any other QB who have come in and actually progressed to the top?

There are certain players that dont deserve what they get... then there are players that take the pi55 out of things they dont deserve to have...
josh gordon... you sign a multi million dollar contract... youre 2 seasons away from being paid top 10 wide receiver money, either with the browns or through free agency... all you need to do, is not smoke (or snort) anything, for 6 years/8 if you want a bit longer payday.
then you may smoke or snort whatever you want. Just wait!

Could go either way as stonfacd said. I dont think the Browns is the best destination for him. He certainly has ability but he has a very unusual style and is not physically tooled to be durable in the NFL. He could have a short career due to his build and his attiitude. One things for sure at QB he will not succeed if he doent cut out the boozing and womanising antics.

Well I've give him that, he looked sharp the other night. Needs to stop sliding head first though. Definite potential.
