Afternoon all,
I was wandering how excited everyone is about Diego Costa finally coming to Chelsea?
we've finally signed a decent striker..... well, this is what and how I felt when we signed Fernando Torres and also players like Mateja Kezman (he had a good record in Holland!)
However....
Personally, I can't help but feel he is going to be a flop. Now hold on a minute before I get told i'm being negative and all that!
I just feel that we may have the same issue as we do with Torres at the moment.
anyone else feel different or the same way??
Diego Costa - Fernando Torres mark 2?

Different circumstances to Torres & Sheva. Both those guys were signed coming off arguably the worst periods of their careers due to niggling injuries.
I have a bad feeling Costa will fail because he's simply not good enough. He'll be an improvement on what we've currently got, but lets face it who wouldn't be?
I haven't seen enough to call myself completely objective, but every time I've watched him play he's had a dreadful tendency to vanish in games. Technically he's not even remotely on the level of past targets like Falcao, Aguero or Neymar. In the grand scheme of things he's still totally unproven (Soldado has a bigger rep and he's taken a year and counting to settle at Spurs). And his temperament just potentially brings yet more unnecessary drama which we could do with curbing at some point. Mandzukic would've been a better move financially and on the pitch even despite his being 3 years older.

Completely disagree, the guy will be a monster for us.

Not sure why Chelsea fan have a fear over Costa.
If you could write down what attributes you need in a striker you would basically describe him.
In my opinion he will be better than Drogba ever was.
He will also provide so much comedy, rival fans will despise him in a way that would make Suarez and Terry look like alter boys.
He will get players sent off, win penalties and FK. Player will be more interested in fighting him than playing football. His off the ball antics are hilarious, trips, nips, elbows, standing on feet and good old head buts.
He is grade A crazy, but in an almost endearing way.

He's certainly my type of C/F,having watched a lot of him over the past 2/3 years ,I am certain we are on to a winner .

I think he'll take a couple of years to settle..the games I've seen him I agree with another poster on this thread that while he is not a 'pretty' footballer, his aggression, passion and work rate will certainly be a great addition for us. Saying he'll be greater than Drogba is a pretty stupid assumption at this stage but I reckon long term he'll definitely be a good purchase. However I'm not sure about his temperament.. wonder how many bans he'll get and if he does, whether it'll still be worth him being here like it was for Suarez

He won't flop, he is a 30 goal a season striker and will have Hazard, Cesc, Willian behind him.
