Hopefully a few things have been learnt

I went to the game yesterday, as I have been to all the others (except donny), and I think most of us agreed that up to about the 70th Minute against Leicester we were not creating anything and we sat back way too much.
However Hopefully from the last 20 minutes of the game a few things have been learnt by McClaren and he takes these into further games:
1) Hopefully he has finally learnt that McGoldrought is probably the worse player (imo) in the squad and hopefully he will think twice before he starts him again as he is terrible (imo he should be ent away on loan)
2) Majewski is still the player we remember from 2 seasons ago, and the minute he came on, we started to have a midfield again which was non-existent in that match and we started to really attack as he used his creativity to push the game to opponents goal which we really haven't done in all the league games before.
3) Miller looks like he could be a good buy, especially with Findley next to him, as with Findley's pace and Miller's Height and stature, to cause the opponents problems, we may have found our 1st team pair of strikers, as already when they came on especially after combining with Majewski we started to turn into a potent force.
4) Can we stop being so defensive as well, as we only played the ball backwards or sideways for the 70 mins we were playing badly, and so we invited Leicester and all other opposition teams to attack us, when we should be pushing forwards as we have the squad to do this!
5) Congratulations to the never say die attitude and even the fans, as i think that the fans never really gave up on the team even when we were playing terribly, so when Majewski came on and the fans really started to get behind the team you could see the players had a belief to get forward and obviously eventually it paid off which I hope the players can take into futher games as remember Norwich last year and how they always scored a goal near the end to win a game?

All in all though the last 20 minutes was very promising for us reds, and I hope McClaren picked up on these points as well which we can take into further games, and hopefully now he can start to piece together a team which can challenge for promotion this year, as I think we have the ability to do so if we just become an attacking team rather then a very defensive one which we have been for all of the games so far.

IMO I think this should be the team to challenge for promotion this year.

GK Camp
RB Gunts
CB Morgan
CB Chambo
LB Cohen (unless we get an actual LB in)
RW Reid
CM Majewski
CM Boateng
LW McGugan
CF Miller
ST Findley

Subs: Smith, Ando, Greening, Garner, XXXXshire

What do you all think anyway, do you agree with my team and my points or do you think entirely differently as would be interesting to see what other forest fans think as until the 70th minute yesterday, I thought we had no chance against Leicester and I was glad to be proved wrong

I would have liked to see Anderson play yesterday as he always seems to play well against Leicester, still think he warrants a first team place.

Lynch instead of Garner on the bench, then i probably agree. Toss up between Ando and Reid though, would prob go for Ando for his pace and direct play.

What was Miller like in the air Joe? as some of the Baggies claim he isn't a target man = can't head the ball??

I thought he played well, he certainly made a presence in the team as we were able to get the balls into their box, and he had a few go's at goal which were not too far off.

To a certain extend, McClaren's hands are tied at the moment. All of our wingers are out injured presently, so he can't really play his preferred system 4 2 3 1 and has to pick the likes of McGugan/ Majewski out wide where they are less effective... In some ways though I am surprised how quickly he abandoned his initial system in favour of a 4-4-2. It will be interesting to see if it is a temporary change until we get new players in or not.

I do however think that Boateng and Greening shouldn't really be in the same side, especially at home. With the 2 of them in central midfield there isn't enough forward creativity as I think they offer similar qualities. We looked much better with Maj on the pitch and McGugan put back in CM in the 2nd half.

Returning Cohen to left back in the 2nd half seemed to restore the balance in the team, as Gunter is much better going forward on the right hand side. And the second goal was a product of a left wing cross by Cohen pushing forward from left back. I cannot understand why he was playing right midfield in the 1st half!

Yeah but that happens once in a blue moon stretta
, most of the time he causes the team to be a heck of a lot worse.
