Are we any closer to naming a captain?

I think Van Gaal might be struggling with this one.

Rooney is possibly the obvious choice because of his stature within the club, but many managers are not keen on forwards being their captain.

But of course, we don't really have a settled back four or midfield, so choosing from those positions will be difficult.

The papers are reporting that Rooney was 'snubbed' in favour of Fletcher last night for the armband.

Is Fletch a contender?

Or does the rotation of the armband mean that it's just until RVP returns, for him to take it?

Fletcher wont [;ay much in competitve game next season, isnt cpabale, so giving him it is not viable.

Fletcher has played most minutes, this tour.

Maybe, just maybe... The manager can see something that you can't?

As I have said time and again.... It is funny how people laud LVG and his ability to be a great tactician, getting the best out of his players.... Yet completely ignore the fact that he might get the best out of our current set of players.

I do think we're underestimating the capabilities of some of our players, just simply because Moyes got the worst out of them.

I'd love to see some of them prove people wrong, played in the right position with the tactics to suit their game.

Difference playing friendlies and competitive.

Anyway even if his body can hack it if hes the next captain of this football club and plays the required minitues then the hierachy have accpeted were a mid table team.

I think LVG's comments in regard to RVP during the WC indicated that he is likely to pick the Dutchman as his captain. Probably with Rooney as vice?

I'd love to see Fletcher step up and produce his form of old, unfortunately he has lost his legs and that was his biggest asset.

I think RVP will be captain, maybe Carrick or Evans.

Or, in other words... You completely missed my point.

If LVG says to the club that he sees Fletcher as being the anchor to allow the more attacking players to do their thing... Then that has zero to do with us becoming a mid table team and everything to do with LVG being one of the best managers around and the club trusting his instincts.

Maybe he has pinpointed Fletcher as a 1 year solution until he can bring in, say, Strootman.

Now, this is all just pure speculation... But I am saying this to further backup the point that LVG has a huge history of getting a lot out of players that some might think of as average.

I can only see him giving it to RVP.

The only other candidate is Wazza, and as Fletch seems to be ahead of him, that one isn't going to happen.
