I know you know this, but it is very hilarious that despite your ulimited wealth, you will struggle against Barca's innovative style of football in the champions league just like every other club in Europe has struggled against them. Money can't buy the ball back from Barcelona as they keep possession and press high up the pitch. Maybe Barca will hold the football ransom, and give you 5% more possession if you give them 100 million pounds.
Also you will never sign any of their best players. If you ever sign a Barcelona player, it will be a youth player that is not good enough to get into the first team. Forget about signing future Messi's, Iniesta's and Xavi's. Fabregas was a rare case - A super talented player that left Barcelona at a young age but Barca very rarely make mistakes like that and they are angry about that to this day and will make sure it never happens again.
But Fabregas's decision to join Barcelona and not your riches tells you everything about the mentality of young Barcelona players. He took a pay cut to join Barcelona. Money is not something that motivates young La Masia products to the extent that it motivates other players.

Villas Boas and Lukaku both have that element of destiny and "born to win" about them. Anyone can see that these two are destined to be consistent winners in their careers. Villas Boas will go on to be one of the greatest managers of all time, and Lukaku will make everyone forget about the champions league choker Didier Drogba.

To be fair, no City fan has said that they will be like Barcelona, nor that they are aiming to be like Barcelona.
You can't just change a club into a club like Barcelona, so it's a moot point.
City want to be successful and are doing all that they can to achieve that - it's got nothing to do with being like Barca and this article just sounds bitter.
