The Reality About Giroud

Giroud article part 15...

Apologies for another lengthy article, after reactions to Giroud's presence in our team yesterday I wanted to give my take on how he fits in to our team

Wenger admitted to Giroud not looking 100% ready yet over the weekend, and I'm sure we can all agree that it was evident in his display. From quite early on the crowd at the Emirates justifiably grew frustrated of Giroud after hopelessly gifting the ball away on numerous occasions.

Giroud is a slow player yes. Does he slow down our play? On occasion yes he does. Can we ever play fluent football with him in the team? Yes we can and have.

The problem is the balance of our attack surrounding him that slows our play down. Supporters who watch the team on a regular basis know that his better games often come when he is supported with other attack minded players in the team.

He thrives off pace coming in off the flanks as well as central based players that like to get beyond him, those players aren't Santi and Ozil but are Rosicky, Wilshere and Ramsey all who have scored fine goals using him as a link.

If you watch 3 of the last 4 goals (omitting Rosicky vs Spurs) in this video you'll notice how well he links up with those 3 midfielders I named above, you can also throw in Ramsey's finish vs Sunderland. Also remember Ox vs Palace

He additionally enjoys playing besides direct wide players in Walcott, Oxlade and Podolski. These players like to perform the 'wall pass' with Olivier and usually benefit from it

Because of this I believe that Giroud could still be influential to our game but he needs the correct players around him. This is why I previously emphasised my delight at the additions of Campbell and Sanchez. Before we only had Oxlade and Theo as wide players with genuine pace then Podolski as our other direct outlets, all 3 are injury-prone unfortunately and we miss them a great deal as does Giroud. We now have 5 alternatives to use!

When the team is filled with our creative players using Santi/Ozil on the flanks we become very predictable these are players that would rather keep the ball then give the final pass. You can't really afford that with Giroud if you leave him isolated he'll become hopeless as he lacks that magic to do something spontaneous in possession.

To conclude, what I'm trying to reiterate is that Wenger must balance the team going into the season. If we want to play all our creative players who like to give that final ball, then our CF needs to be a direct player that runs off the shoulder (Sanchez, Walcott, Campbell, Sanogo even Akpom would suit them better).

If we want to play Giroud then we must play at least TWO direct wide players we are now better equipped to do so with the options of Campbell/Sanchez/Ox/Theo/Poldi and also 1 of our central players must like getting beyond him that means at least ONE of Ramsey/Wilshere/Rosicky should be in the team too.

What I rate about our attack now is we have good variety where we can distribute a plan A and B.

I'd like to gather your thoughts and have a sensible discussion in doing so rather than the common dismissive comments claiming he's chit

Do you agree Giroud can be useful with the attack correctly balanced?

But you know best, do you?

What is the Giroud knows best mob? Arrogance has no limits.

On the other hand, when Giroud does not score, it is the midfield not giving him enough support, not providing him enough on-the-plate chances; and it is a sin if someone wants to have a better striker.
______________-

Giroud hinders Özil. That kind of bollox is so unreal. Speechless. Nothing more to add.

Fact is, Giroud did not hinder Ozil. Without Giroud, Ozil still performs, just fewer assist than he could have.
On the other hand, without teammate's help, Giroud can't perform.
Nothing more to add, right.

Who can? Our midfield was controlled by Monaco especially in the first half. We had no creativity, no pace, no accurancy in our passing. Sanchez on the wing was out of the game because of it. From the left side there was no one on the wing. Add to that mess that Giroud had a terrible game and even if we somehow found him he lost the ball because he wasnt fit.

So the consequence of all that was we hadnt hardly a chance to score. It was better when the Ox came on at least from the right wing. Sanchez looked better without having a goalscoring opportunity.

So what I am trying to say is we play and perform as a team and when we are ineffective we wont win a game. Simple. It's not the fault of one player in the end but the consequence when we dont work as a team.

GT, Ozil did not play the Monaco game.

Okay, when Giroud played bad, it was a team's game, not Giroud's fault; he did not get enough support, midfield did not provide enough chances for him; and even Wenger came out and said he was not fit and ready.
So, when was the last time it was really Giroud's fault? Why there were and there are so many excuses?
It was never Giroud's ability and fault?
When Arshavin played bad, he was a bad player, same applied to Bendtner, Chamakh, Gervinho, and Podolski. Sounds like Giroud was never $h1t and he played bad just because of all other's fault and had all kinds of excuses.
