I'm sure Rafael will be the popular choice, when fit, but if Young can carry this form into the start of the season, he might prove difficult to dislodge.
In the "easier" games, we will be looking for the wing backs to be a real attacking force. The 3 CBs should be enough to soak up most of the threat, allowing the wing backs to play almost as wingers.... I think Young will be preferred to Rafael, in such a scenario. I could possibly even see Young on the Left and Valencia on the right, when the weaker teams come to OT, at the expense of Shaw and Rafael.
Interesting that a change in formation might be something that gets the best out of some of our much maligned players. When I first heard Young would be starting a game as a wingback, I laughed, but LvG knows what he is doing and Young has really stepped up to save his OT career.
In a few short weeks, he has gone from one of the 1st names on most people's "Out" list to someone who could be a real benefit to the squad, as a wingback on either side.
to Young
to Van Big Nads
Who would you play as right wing back

I didn't catch much of the second half last night but in the first the partnership between Rooney and Hernandez was pretty poor, Rooney's passing was off and he kept doing his cross field ball the the right side time and time again.
-------------------------
He hit that pass about 4 or 5 times all game and missed his target once
Mata and Rooney are working great together.
I really do not see a problem fitting RVP in instead of Chich, whatsoever and I'm sure that is what LVG is intending to do as soon as RVP is fit
If one has to give, then you can't drop Mata or Rooney if they continue the way they are playing.

Start watching the game from the second half
I think Moyes took temporary charge in the first half

Like I said, these are friendlies and mean little in terms of player's performances. Mata wasn't great that first half either, misplaced a lot of passes.

Both have been quality this tour

But anyway for now RVP isn't going to be fit or ready for the start of the season. But once he is then I think the real question will be how to fit all 3 IF that is what LVG intends to do.
I think it'll be hard to gauge any sort of idea of how we will play until all signing are made, they could drastically change the way we set out.

True
I think LVG said he ideally wants to play 433 but doesn't yet have the necessary personnel

I wonder what Van Big Nads has planned for Fellaini?
Seems somewhat against his M.O to sell him without seeing what he can do.

Valencia is ace and is without doubt our best option at right wing-back, and that's including when Rafael is fit. If you can't see that then you're deluding yourself.
