Do you have to be a loud mouth (rooney) or quiet as a mouse (fletcher) to be a captain? Who do you see LVG giving the armband to?
Who would you prefer personally, someone like rooney (keane) or fletcher (beckham). I prefer rooney some one who is not shy and has a voice. Having some one quiet lead the team won't motivate the players especially in big games.
who would you choose and why?
Utd next captain

Only candidates for me are:
Jones - young, natural leadership qualities, CB
Fletcher - United through and through
Rooney - gives his all every game, arguably still our most important player
RVP - connection with LVG, plenty of captaincy experience
Personally I think it's too soon for Jones, who needs to up his game to even ensure he deserves a place in the starting XI. Fletcher shouldn't even be our first choice CM if we are to really challenge for the title. RVP is too injury prone and isn't exactly young
Has to be Rooney for me

This whole captain thing is getting boring to be honest. None of the players currently playing for us have that Roy Keane personality, so am not really fussed who get's it. I really hope it is not one of the strikers though, but sadly it is going to be betweern wazza or rvp.

Fletcher - United through and through

The problem is, things go "through" him quicker than it would me and you.

I'd hate Rooney to be captain, the bloke is still inconsistent on the pitch (performance wise, not statistically), he already has an ego as big as the manager and he has publicly bent the club over for personal gain.
----------------------------
No he hasn't BB
That's media BS
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, him asking top leave the club is enough for me, which he did. New contract offer and he was suddenly happy to play for us again,
------------------
He fancied a move. So what. He wasnt happy with the owners and as I have mentioned many times on here, the contract was already on the table before he wanted to move. It's no secret that he wanted out because he wasn't convinced by the owners. The press conference is on youtube, Finance was not even discussed
Its media fed BS that Rooney held United to ransom for money. Fergie even mentioned in his book that Rooney wanted to know why United were not in for Ozil. We were signing Valencia Obertan and bebe after letting Ronaldo and Tevez go
The Glazers called Rooney to reassure Rooney of their commitments and he changed his mind. Remember the green and gold campagne was in full swing and even Becks got applauded for sticking one on.
Ronaldo still gets lauded despite leaving a couple of weeks after saying he wouldn't. Rooney stayed.
Noone moans about RVP's wage and he has a long way to go to achive what Rooney has done with us
At the end of his contract, Rooney could be our all time top scorer and given us 15 years of service
More than enough to forgive a 2 day brain fart when he was still only about 24

Of course Rooney has an ego, he's a multimillion pound footballer who has been treated as a king since he was a teenager. Most footballers have egos for the same reason, RVP, Messi, etc, it's nothing to be surprised about, same with most top celebrities around the world.
Their every move is documented in the press, everything is done for them, they are adored but millions around the world, they simply do not live in the real world.
Of course he has an ego.

Although in agreement with most of what you've said, am sorry him and Ronaldo situation is just different. Not once did Ronaldo question the ambition of this great club, he wanted to move solely to play for his dream club. The day Rooney started saying players we should be in for, that's the day they should'vbe handed him his p45. Had Fergie stayed, I doubt Rooney would be here.
Also, I think people forgot why Wenger let rvp go. He went to the Wenger's house demanding players and trying to give advice, his sale was sanctioned shortly after that. Wenger might be soft, but deep down the man is fully of principles, you do not go around as a player telling coaches and managers who to buy.

Scholay
It's never been about the club. Ever
He plays for one of the World's biggest clubs that happens to be on the doorstep of where he loves to live.
It's never been about United. It was about the owners. and last year, it was simply a breakdown in his and Fergie's relationship. And lets be honest here, Rooney isn't the first United star Fergie has fallen out with at some point or other is it. Becks. Keane. Stam etc.
Ronaldo left because he wanted to play for another club right after making a video of himself saying he wouldnt be going.
Rooney has never wanted to leave United because of the football club and he isn't even a Manc.
Saying he questioned the ambition of this great club is a distortion. He questioned the owners, And at the time, he wasn't in a minority either
He was wrong to do it, but he's not the brightest star in the sky is he. When Stretford touted Rooney to City, Rooney didn't even know he was doing it. It's why Streford and Fergie haven't spoken since when before that, they got on reasonably well
Rooney has never fallen out with Manchester United the club which is why I find it pretty easy to dismiss
The good he has done for United outdoes the bad a thousand fold

It's always been, no ones ever doubted that. He's just launched another range of underwear with giant images of him projected in 7 cities round the world photographed by Rankin. He even projected it on the f-cling Champs Elysees!
