Is it just me and a few others that know our dates and know that there's still a couple of weeks until the window closes?
Would have thought it was already closed by some people's reactions on here...

I generally agree with the premise that the transfer window should shut before the first game of the season.

There we go again Conor, you and I are in agreement.

I think most peoples concerns are that the season starts this weekend and United don't appear to be stronger squad wise than last season when they finished 7th. Add in that United's main rivals seem to have strengthened more significantly than United appear to have done (to date anyway) and it's nothing unusual for the fans to be concerned. I think last summer's transfer window shambles has fans genuinely worried that a similar situation could occur again.
United's rivals appear to have done all their major business and seem ready to go with stronger squads than they had last season and well balanced squads too (maybe Liverpool being the exception with the loss of Suarez but their squad definitely has more depth now). As things stand the same thing can't really be said about United. Not exactly great news with the season starting in a couple of days.

Doing business once the season has started is a pony way of operating.

I find it amazing that people are worried. Our manager is one of the greatest developers of youth and is tactically astute.
I would promote the kids, sit back and enjoy the ride

He hasn't managed at club level for years and has never managed in the PL.
He might be able to succeed in a tournament format at international - which by and large isn't a very high level until the very latter stages - by getting players to over-perform.
Accomplishing the same over 38 games in a highly competitive league like the PL is a different matter entirely.

Neither had Jose, Mancini or Pelligrini, so I really fail to see what point you are making there.

Jose, Mancini and Pellegrini went to/inherited teams willing to spend big or who already had, effectively guaranteeing success.
If LVG thinks he can get Darren Fletcher and Micheael Carrick competing with the likes of Fabregas, Matic, Fernandinho, Yaya, Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla, Gerrard, Coutinho over 38 games at this stage of their careers then there's a place in the looney bin waiting for him

For those defending uniteds business this window. Can you honestly say when the window opened you would have been happy going into the first game with Reece James, Tyler Blackett and fletcher in the side????
We have waited and waited then moved for vermalean (despite arsenal not wanting to sell and the player fancying Barca) then for a player who's club doesn't want to sell.
What's next? Rejected bid for Hummels for £50m before moving for Vlaar?
