Just reading this morning's article on the Beeb about Marcos and the "transfer standoff" - anyway, I happened to notice in the 'related articles' section at the top right of the page an article entitled 'Who is in the pundits' team of the tournament?'.
Having clicked on the link I see that Marcos isn't actually in 'the pundit's team of the tournament' as one would expect (given the title of the link).
The End.
Actually, Marcos is not in the MOTD "pick your favourite big name players" list but is, more interestingly, in the Opta Stats World Cup Team of the Tournament. Despite spending at least four minutes searching through Google, unfortunately I can't actually find the specific data but the statement under the graphic on the BBC website reassures me that:
"The Opta scoring system is devised by working out an overall score based on more than 250 statistical events, with each event having a positive/negative score awarded based on its outcome. More important stat categories are weighted more heavily, so crucial stats during games make a difference (goals, assists, clean sheets, etc)."

So, I know that many see this as a particularly underwhelming signing, but considering he was 'statistically' a player of the tournament does this make you feel slightly more confident if we do resolve the situation and manage to complete the purchase?

Yeah, it would have helped to have a manager in place early doors but I think we're all happy that we waited for LVG even if it's put the pressure on before deadline day. Part of me thinks though that United needed the Moyes disaster to happen. It's drawn the sting from the "who can possibly replace SAF?" conundrum.
Mind you, I see Pullis is available today. Thank God he didn't jump ship last May.

Just for an "outside looking in" view - what's your opinion on our summer so far? Do you think that the manager coming in light is the main reason for not making many signings? Do you agree that LVG should properly assess the squad before panic buying?
