Alex Fynn on Arsecast

Everyone needs to listen to this interview on arseblog with Alex Fynn. He basically says that we've had money for 3-4 years now but Arsene is still reluctant to spend and the latest transfer acquisitions have been down to Ivan Gazidis, Ozil included. Even the appointment of Shad Forsythe was Ivan's decision.

Give it a listen:

The interview starts around the 12th minute.

Don't need anyone to tell me that. Wenger has SEVERALLY displayed an inclination to invest blind faith in mediocre players, rather than buy. The Alonso-Denilson comments typify the mentality. He has pulled the plug on a few deals like Mata and the Alvarez chap at Inter because of a few million pounds difference in valuation. He and Gazidis have given plenty of mixed, misleading messages about our financial situation: one moment, we have a lot to spend - the next, we're labouring under constraints. He has also inflated our wage bill with his self-admitted socialist wage policy that sees youngsters, squad players and mediocres paid close to the more important players' wages - money that could have been used to get in better players.

The myth that we were run on a shoe-string with little to spend is just that - a myth. Other than the sugar daddy clubs and Madrid and Barca, we could compete on a similar budget with all the top clubs. Even Man U, whose wage bill was only slightly higher than ours. Or even Bayern whose budget is similar to ours.

Well summed up Sheriff.

What is the point of this? Why is our club always full of such poison ffs. Can't we just stick together and support the team for once

Sounds like an American accent. Didn't realise Arseblog was American.

I'm listening to it now and OP has completely misrepresented what Fynn has said ( who sounds like John Major in tighter Y-Fronts)

He does mention Wenger having too much power but more in relation to the power vacuum left by the hasty sacking of Dein. Even that is myopic, no mention of Fitzman dying of a chronic illness , no mention of Edelmans ineffectiveness, no mention of the boardroom struggle involving that foxy lady left claiming she was forced out by the 'boys club' of our boardroom

No mention of our two actual shareholders either, you know the people who actually employ Wenger

What absolute tosh.
It is blatantly obvious to anyone with a brain that the money simply wasn't there before the new sponsorship deals came into place.
It is blatantly obvious Wenger was very much at the forefront in chasing Özil and Alexis.

The crazy anti-Wengerites claim one minute he has absolute control, then the next say we are buying players against his wishes. Crazy talk

Isn't what he's saying evident in our financial reports?

I listened to it, and I thought it was all a load of bóllocks.

Yes, he said he "spoke" to Gazidis or Dein, or Edleman, or whoever, but who says they were telling him the truth? They could have just been telling him what they wanted him to think.

A lot of his theories seemed like guesswork anyway. No surprises he's coming out with this stuff before his book is being published.
