I rate him 4/5 after this window. Another signing we need and getting rid off dead wood he's a 5!

lmao how fickle, you all hated him last week. Put me in his seat and I would have got you Shaw for £27M, Herrera for £30M, Di Maria for £60M, Rojo for £16M + a player on loan who you will continue paying £50K+ a week to. He's either paid over the odds or met release clauses.

think we might of signed these players despite him rather than because of him.

What rbw said.

Dunno why everyone is so obsessed with Woodward. Pretty much all our signings were completed by overpaying for them or waiting till the last week of the window.

He's done the absolute minimum expected of him. I don't dislike the guy or wanna spend hours slating him but he just threw vast United money at players and they came.

Dunno what else there is to it. Since 2013 every player we've bought has only had us competing for them. Maybe Woodward would get more props if he managed to talk a player into joining us rather than a rival.

It's his job to bring in players, I'm happy for him that these signings have been made but lets not pretend that he has made miracles here.

He's signed players either than had release fees, clubs wanted to sell or playing a large amounts to smaller clubs. I honestly would hope and think any other man in the same role would have done the same.

3/5, ok, did his job, nothing particularly special. Importantly though, it is a massive improvement on last summer.

Robb

Chelsea wanted Shaw and PSG wanted Di Maria. Let's not kid ourselves that this was a Mata situation where no-one else was in for him. Those clubs wanted those players. The fact is that ultimately they couldn't afford them and United could. Mourinho's comments about Shaw and his wages smacked of sour grapes to me (and hypocrisy when you consider the wages Chelsea have paid to players over the last 10 years many of them who played under JM).

Chelsea pulled out of the Shaw bidding as soon as they saw how much Saints wanted and what we were willing to pay.

PSG pulled out of the di Maria bidding because FFP prevented them from spending the money needed.

They may have wanted them but they never put up a fight in any kind of bidding war with us.

Pass marks.

Shaw paid 50-60% over true value. More a reflection of the market than his negotiations.

ADM paid 20-30% over value. However, he did sign a player that could drastically improve our attack, and probably the only genuine WC player in the squad now.

Rojo- about right value. Believe he will become a good player for us.

Herrera-paid the release clause, he could have last year, no points for this one, but also looks an excellent addition to mf.

Blind - I'd say a good price agreed for what looks to be a very useful addition, intelligent and versatile. Plus points for this.

Overall, Woodward gets a 7/10 from me. Loses points for vastly overpaying for shaw (although dictated by market rather than him) evens on di Maria as even on the steep side is an excellent signing. Blind and Rojo good buys, plus points for blind who im especially pleased with signing.
