The mess that Moyes and partially SAF had left, can't be sorted out in one summer, but as of today, it has gone a long way to fix the mess.
At the beginning of summer, if someone told me we would sign Di Maria and Falcao, I would have slapped them silly.
We've also signed a quality CM(Herrera), LB(Shaw) and another CM/LB in Blind. Add Rojo, Di Maria and Falcao, we have quality players coming into this team.
The club have also been trying to get rid of some of the deadwood, such as Cleverley, Anderson, Buttner, Fellaini etc...
Will be a tough next few months, but once our attackers start clicking, it'll be a joy to watch.

Moyes wasn't a good enough manager to realise that our players were trash. A good manager, such as LVG, realised that within a few months.

LVG also had the benefit of not having to disband a title winning team.
If Moyes had booted out, say, Vidic and Evra, the river of tears would have crashed the ja606 server.

I'd rather focus on the positives the OP put forward.
Yes, the team isn't completely rounded off yet, but a lot has been done in this window. Regardless of where you finish this season, it doesn't seem unreasable to think you again have a platform on which to build a title-winning side.
