I don't know what sponsorship deals we had in place, but it wasn't on the scale of today's.
Also the money BT are pumping in is stupidly big.
The money MAY have not been there when Ronaldo left.
Or maybe FFP is kicking in heavily on teams like Madrid, so they can't hoover up all the best talent, just most of it
I'm jut playing Devils Advocate there though.
