Welbeck

Scored a great hattrick in a game you were always going to win. But has now led the line against City, Dortmund, Tottenham and Chelsea. He's failed to score or assist in those games. And you've won none of them. They've been unquestionably your toughest fixtures this season. And he hasn't actually improved things in those fixtures.

So, how good a signing is Welbeck, how many points will his arrival add to Arsenal's points total?

I'll disagree. He's a youth product who people wanted to be good and he's been given huge leeway throughout his failures.

United fans hero worship him simply because he's a Mancunian who came through our youth system. But he's not very good. And he won't be a big loss to us

He won't be a big loss to you because you've basically ignorantly branded him the finished article at the age of 23. It's like you sadly sit there watching him and waiting for him to fail so you can feel vindicated.

You also say he was rubbish today but acknowledge that he had no service lol. Joker.

Powerking he's been playing first team football for 6 years now. So yes, I actually do think he's as good as he's going to be. He works very hard, has a great attitude but isn't all that good. I see no reason why that would change.

"He's 23" whoops, my mistake. He's only 23 so there's a likelihood that he'll become good. Nah, sorry, that's not actually likely to happen. Truther

Drogba played a lot of first team football when young but didn't peak till around 27.

Its pointless to argue about cos no-one knows how high he can go, it varies from player to player. I personally believe in our system, playing at the main man he'll grow in confidence and stature and get better but its all pure speculation

Drogba didn't really play all that much football at all tbf. Regardless for every Drogba, there's a Welbeck. A guy who just simply isn't very good but is being overrated. I am willing to bookmark this article in terms of my Welbeck opinions but why bother? There are some fans who will always defend him regardless

Its not a case of blindy defending him, its a case of not being able to predict the future.

My opinion probably does have an element of bias to it, but watching him play upfront for us has been very enjoyable compared to watching Giroud over the last two years.

He could go on to be a top striker or he could just be average, but for the money in todays market I think its good value

And Drogba played a fair bit, maybe not at the top level but he was getting a good amount of appearance every season and it took about 2 years at Chelsea before he found his feet.

TBAG that's fair enough. I honestly don't think he'll ever contribute enough when it matters and I held the same view when he played for us.

But, stranger things have happened. And you have realistic expectations for him

To be honest I don't expect a lot, but he's a different option and gives opposition more to think about than Giroud.

For a club who wants to be at the top he's not good enough as a first choice striker and can't see that he will be anytime soon, but right now his energy and pace stretches teams and gives our better players more space which is only a good thing

can't argue with any of that
