Why am I getting spanked in FIFA?

I'd be tempted to put it down to loads of good players being in the lower divisions, making it harder than you may think. I had problems starting fifa 14 and thought I had lost it, but if you stick at it you should improve

Stick at it. You'll improve with time. One thing most players fail on is lack of patience. Too many are willing to go in gung-ho to retrieve the ball when it's lost, leaving enormous swathes of space for the opponent to exploit. Instead be patient, sit back, close the gaps and soak up pressure. Go 'ultra defensive', or at the minimum 'defensive' until you can gauge the ability of your opponent. Do this and more often than not, the opponent will slip and gift you the ball.

On 14, I never played more than 3 games per session on seasons. I found that anymore than 3 games and my performance would dip and my concentration would fail. I managed to reach Div1, however I didn't manage to top it.

Thanks guys. Taking my time really does help. I play a possession based game and I will not deviate from it.

Don't play defensive, and especially don't play ultra defensive. It makes the game incredibly boring to play.

I agree about the defending though. It takes a bit of getting used to but you'll get there in time.

I've found this game and the last one much harder than the previous versions. I won FUT seasons 1st division about 30 times in FIFA 13 but only won it once in FIFA 14. My record is ok but not great on this game and the last one. I basically win 2 games for every 1 loss. On FIFA 13 it was more like I won 4 games for every 1 loss.
