WrestleMania XXXI

After the HHH/Rock segment on Smackdown and the media frenzy that followed, people are already saying that the match is set in stone for WM31.

The latest rumours suggest that there was no intention for the two greats to sqaure off and that the promo was simply a bit of fun but the reaction has been so vast that it would be foolish from a business perspective to ignore the possible cash influx for such a draw.

It's not unusual for the company to build up feuds/storylines months in advance of the showpiece that is WrestleMania. According to Jim Ross, they'd often know the main event 6 months beforehand and this would include contingency plans should something unexpected occur like an injury to one of the main players.

The Rock vs Cena (volume 1) feud spanned an entire year. Everyone in the business was talking about the return of The Rock against the golden boy of this generation... Cena and It resulted in the best PPV buy rate in the history of the organisation.

Whether fans like it or not, big names draw big money - even if it's at the expense of the wrestlers at the top of the roster (CM Punk being the obvious in recent years).

It makes sense to use The Rock whilst he can still produce in the ring and Triple H had the best match at WM30 - so the company know that they've got two competent superstars that will guarentee money.

Is there any matches you'd like to see for the next WrestleMania and do you agree with the Big names getting the top spot on the card?

I'd personally like to see The Undertaker face Brock again for the title, beat him and then retire the following night on Raw (laying down the belt in the middle of the ring).

I'd obviously like to see the match mentioned above (HHH/Rock). HHH is sometimes regarded as the most important player of the attitude era. In order to have top stars like Austin, Rock, Foley etc, you needed a guy on the opposite side who'd put them over and sell - There was nobody better than Triple H for that.

I'd also like to see a tournament for the Intercontinental title - with the previous rounds being played out on Raw weeks in advance.

If I could have one star come back, it would be Austin and there are some rumours suggesting that he's back in training.
