Chelsea fan in peace here.I watched Real Madrid v Liverpool match.Balotelli played better than most people are giving him credit against Real Madrid though I believe that Brendan Rodgers should play Rickie Lambert instead of Balotelli or Borini.
What do you guys think?
Balotelli played better than some v Madrid

Selling Agger wasn't a mistake at all.

Replacing him with Lovren was.
Talk about a downgrade

Lovren is a better player than the current Agger. Agger can no longer meet the demands of top level football. Our defence has bigger issues than individual performances.
Lovren will prove his worth, I've no doubt about that.

Agree with TOOR.
Lovren is getting a lot of stick on here recently, not all of it merited.
We were all hoping he would have a bigger impact on our defence that we have seen so far, but its early days.

Or maybe they just go with what they see with their own eyes.
3-0 down and the lone striker gets hooked at half time and not even replaced like for like - not exactly a ringing endorsement in Ballotelli by Rodgers.

So he has to play him every minute of every game or he is not backing him?
Do me a favour.
We had to do SOMETHING on Wednesday, as we were getting battered after the first 20 mins when we were competitive.
Its impossible to tell whether the tactical move had any effect because Real dropping off was equally likely to have effected the game finishing 3-0, but Rodgers was perfectly within his rights to make a tactical change in that situation without being accused of not backing Balotelli.

Your system if im not mistaken, relies on high pressing early on in the game, and scoring from that early pressure. Once you get past the 30 min mark, the pressing will inevitably drop off. Gets harder for your front men to score then and doubly hard since you dont have Suarez in your team.

We scored lot of goals early but plenty past 30 mins also:

Can't argue with the Suarez factor because he's a top quality player but we weren't all about the first 30 mins last year.
I actually have faith in Balotelli's ability but am increasingly concerned over how he slows the pace of our attacks. Hate to say it but the signing is beginning to remind me of Berbatov at Utd - great player but not well suited to the team.

Sturridge getting injured has fecked mario over really, our best game was the 1 game they both played

The media have overplayed the first 30 mins thing because or the high profile hammerings we dished out to Arsenal and Everton where we flew out of the blocks.
We scored other early goals of course but we scored plenty of late goals too.
We also scored loads from set pieces which hasn't been the case yet this season. That wasn't much to do with Suarez as Gerrard takes most of our free-kicks and corners.
We haven't attacked the ball very well in either box this season for some reason.
