firstly this is not intended to start arguments or anything like that. i just want to see where people stand on the matter and why they feel the way they do on poch.
i feel poch is not the right man for the job because.....
in his period at the club i have seen no improvement either in the players or as a team. we are incredibly predictable, the palace game went exactly as i knew it would. we play the narrow 4-2-3-1 so palace setup to counter and break with pace. palace arguably deserved to win the game with the better of the chances and were very unlucky with the crossbar shot.
the problem is when poch took a stab in the dark and changed his plans against everton to a 4-4-1-1 it was a negative one. we were the side trying to counter and not be broken down. we are using small club tactics so when we are forced into setting the tempo, setting the tone of the game we struggle because thats not the way we are training to play.
pochs style works at southampton or espanyol because there are no big expectations and the players fight like warriors as they are the underdogs. we are a top 7 club in the country it is rare we go into a game as underdogs or it should be rare.
i do not know the answer as to who we could get, im not suggesting poch is not a good head coach but i really strongly feel he is not the correct man for the job. even if we gave him 1 billion pounds to build a team it is the tactics that is the problem and he is either too stubborn or too confused to change it.
people suggest changing the players quite simply we cannot do too much. yedlin is joining in january but we have to sell a player for him to join the 24 man squad he cant join unless we sell. we can buy one british player currently too but that is all. can you see the likes of paulinho, ade, etc leaving to free up a place in the squad? i cannot.
how does everyone feel about poch? positive or negative? if on the positive side why do you feel if given time poch will be a success? in my opinion time does not guarentee success. look at espanyol they got worse as poch went on he did not do a bad job just struggled to improve them.
Poch the right man for the job?

Yeh thats why I won't really judge Poch until he has two transfer windows. Not much else we can do but back the manager. In my view backing the manager does not mean booing the players at half or full time. Thats just my view.
It's painful watching Poch stumble along this season but what can we do?

Exactly. You wait and hope that he has identified the players he wants and can bring them in whilst moving on players he doesn't need. Soldado and Adebayor surely have to go. Paulinho should be nowhere near your team and to be honest, I can only see room for one of Eriksen and Lamela.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed but I actually think it Lamela or Kane. I think Lamela's best position is behind the striker in a 4-4-1-1. Eriksen on the left of midfield draws some comparison with Modric under the redknapp formation. starting on the left of a midfield 4. it strangely works..

To be fair we need to rid ourselves of more deadwood. Apart from the usual players mentioned I feel Soldado and Lamela need to go as this league clearly isn't their cup of tea. Nothing against those two who are clearly talented players but sometimes players cant adapt to a new league, as we have seen down the years.
I would get shot of Ade,Benny,Paulinho,Soldado,Lamela,Chiriches,Dembele and if it is true about the slack attitude brigade then Capoue as well. We don't need players that are not willing to bust their balls for the team. If Kaboul and Rose buck up their ideas I am fine with them staying as backups.
I think what makes me mad the most is when you look at the two players we have on loan, Holtby and Carroll. Now we know both these players would put in a shift, especially Holtby yet we shoved him out of the door when we could of done with that sort of bite.
To make matters worse there was a stat the other day that Siggy had the best assist rating in the Prem this year, yet he was another we shifted out.
I am willing to give Poch time but if he cannot put his own stamp on the team and players are unwilling to sign up to his methods we may be in for a long slog.

This isn't about Pochettino being the right man for the club but the players being the wrong men for the club. It is easy to blame one man and look past the pile of average players we have.
We have players who we would like to think are good but are actually huge let downs. Dembele for one. We need players to come in and form a similar mentality and work ethic and it doesn't happen when we change manager every year.
If they are coached by Guardiola and then Tony Pulis and from that Ancelotti then no doubt there will be a confusion of philosophy and you'd have a blend of players suited to different managers styles. It only gels when either they have been brought through the youth system together or have a consistent philosophy.

Good stuff guys cheers. I have the flu and went asleep after doing this article! Cheers to the Liverpool boys too some good points.
I was just trying to gauge why people feel the way they do. Whilst I am personally very frustrated theres many problems but there is many good points too with the club.
After reading everyones views I am still of the opinion that given an extra 6 months and a change of playing personnel I cannot see us improving. At the moment we are regressing and I do not like the concept of take the pain now for a better future there is no guarantee that will happen. I just feel sometimes the fit is not right, im not saying it is all pochs fault but something just is not right.
Obviously I hope I am wrong and we go on to win every competition and go unbeaten till the end of the season! COYS.

Poch needs much more time. If we knee jerk again before the season finishes, we will only take another step back.
The evidence is there with our displays over Everton and Chelsea (even though we lost). The kind of football we played was a nice, attacking game. I think the mistake Poch made was not starting with the likes of Aaron Lennon, or at least introducing him to the game earlier, when we drew against Palace. His stubbornness might be his downfall.
I hope Poch is allowed to bring in a few more players in January, then when the season finishes and we still haven't seen any improvement, the argument to dismiss him will hold a little more ground. But it is premature to even think about replacing him now. He is managing the same team Sherwood and AVB struggled with. Let him have a reshuffle of certain players and give him a proper chance

Ideally 3 season will be the judge of the man, I feel if we win a cup, (league cup at this rate) it will be a success and we can kick on, but he needs to adapt his style of play and adopt a more direct approach, we're so predictable in our style, this showed under AVB and AVB was too stubborn to change also
Forget about top 4, we would be embarrassed in the champions league if we ever made it in there again, time to set the targets lower to eventually aim high again, too many distractions off the pitch to contain with at present

yes he is the right man..
BUT
1. he has to lose his stubbornness
2. he has a lot to learn regarding in game management and substitutions
3. he has to ship out the bad apples
4. levy has to back him
5. we have to give him time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say 2 is the only one that hasn't happened yet
