I mean seriously, despite the loss that was probably our second best performance of the season, against an extremely in form team.
In the 30 minutes I watched (the last 30) we did more than enough to win the game, even though we were 3 goals down.
Balo came back and continued to show the improvement he was showing pre injury, and clearly all he lacks is a goal for that little bit of confidence, and we all have to acknowledge that De gea was absolutely magnificent, i mean neo in the matrix sort of stopping ability! It's not often that a goalkeeper gets man of the match, and it's almost unheard of that he's on the winning end of a 3-0 victory,
Yes some of the finishing was poor, but the sheer number of good chances and shots on goal we got was massively encouraging,
I know it's not the result some of us wanted, but credit where it's due please, to both us, the unuted team (De gea in particular) and Rodgers.
His time here is not done, and everyone should remember the precautionary tale of Sir Alex's early united career!! We have a lot to be optimistic about, so stop it with the wrist slitting, hitting the reset button on this project will only cost us long term.
We are still in the league and fa cup. We have a good chance at the Europa, especially with any Jan reinforcements. And we are 7 points off fourth. 6 off arsenal, the most likely competitor for that spot.
Play like we did yesterday against arsenal next week and we could half that deficit, if we can beat Bournemouth too it will all put a very different sheen on our season so far. This is a long term game plan, amd this was always a season of settling new squad strength and reconciliation.
We were sat in 6th after boxing day last season.. And we were written off for top 4, just remember that.
When did we get so many cretinous fans?

Good stats TKT.
'Defences win the title' is an old fashioned concept from the time of back pass rule, 4-4-2 and 15 man squads.
These days its all about the goals for.

Not sure about that. United's defence carried us through a few titles tbh.

Certainly won't this year Jay. Everyone knows they'll get a barrelfull of chances against us. Look at the Arsenal game as well as yesterday. Funny that the only team that's buried them all and put us to the sword is fecking Leicester.

Indeed Kolo's. MK Dons and Leicester did what you and Arsenal couldn't.
Thank fck for inept opposition (apart from MK Dons and Leicester).

You had a good defence at times Jay but I don't remember a Utd team winning the title without scoring shed loads of goals.

The year we overtook Newcastle Cantona got the winner in about six 1-0's on the trot.
You don't shell out your hard earned to murmur appreciation at a good defense though do you? (Well, maybe Chelsea fans do).

I would still consider that to be a different time Post.
Football at the top level has changed loads in the last decade, with the rules firmly favouring attacking football, especially in English football where defenders used to be able to get away with murder but get away with a hell of a lot less now.
