Leicester City Worst Ever XI

Lets lighten the mood during a tough old season for the foxes!

I wonder if we can have a go at assembling Leicesters worst ever team from some of the classic players in our illustrious history. I'd be interested in either some of your suggestions for who would make the team, or your full starting line up and manager.

I'd recommend sticking to a solid 4-4-2, and you can use any players from any point in time and put them together

Here are some of suggested guidelines;

1. The players where possible should offer terrible value for money
2. Suggest up to 5 substitutes if you just cant fit them all in!
3. Can you also name the manager and assistant manager if doing the full team
4. You could include players who were decent but had awful disciplinary records or were rubbish in another way

I'd also be interested to hear from our older generation of fans who have obviously got a wealth of players to choose from.

To help jog the memory, here our a few suggestions;

Ade Akinbiyi - ST - First choice for a few of the newer city fans, Peter Taylors record club signing at £5.5m. Was a feature on MOTD due to his goalless run and the kop even resorted to throwing programmes at him!

Junior Lewis - MID - Another one of Taylors super signings. We got him from Gillingham I believe? 25 appearances before he was cast into exile. I think his main job was to win headers and break up play?

Frank Sinclair - LB - There have been worse city defenders. A lot worse, but have they scored the quality of own goals frank did?

Matt Jones - MID - Another Taylor signing of course £3m. After he scored his first goal for Leicester he phoned his mum at half time. We should have sold him after that....

Dennis Wise - MID - certainly not the worst ever player for Leicester but hated for many other valid reasons

Kevin Pressman - GK - remember THAT goal he conceded from the opposition keepers goal kick

Lee Philpott - MID - back to the Brian Little days with this one. 3 goals in 91 appearances for this technically gifted midfielder who was signed for £350k but sold for £95k

Bobby Davidson - ST - around the same time as Lee Philpott I think - 6 goals in 25 appearances as striker

Tony Spearing - DF - Back to the 80's and certainly before my time as a City fan, but well talked about by others. My earliest memories are of City are having to beat Newcastle on the last day of the season in 1990 or 1991 to avoid being relegated to the old third division. No doubt this no nonsense defender was in that side

Tommy English - ST - Early 80's, I never saw him but those that did remember his colossal 3 goals in 44 appearances for the foxes

Lots to choose from!!

Harry Kane ?? spent his time with us masquerading as
a boy band member.
He is now bound to score against us!!

Harry Kane is an interesting one because I thought he was pretty poor for us but showed the odd glimpse.....look at him now.

Wouldnt make my worst 11 but not a bad shout

Hussein Kaebi?

Having watched city for over forty years I have several contenders but have gone for the following 11 based on either not realising expectations or just being monuments to mediocrity.

Spider Kalac
John Curtis
Norman Leet
Lammie Robertson
Martin Keown
Momo Sylla
Josh Low
Wayne Clarke
Roger Davies
Lee Morris
Joe Hamill

GK - Kevin Pressman
RB - Alan Maybury (best of a bad lot of Levein signings, but still rubbish)
CB - Darren Kenton (utterly mediocre/forgettable)
CB - Wayne Brown (who was OK until we found out he was a gigantic bigot)
LB - Nils-Eric Johansson (how he got so many appearances I'll never know)
LW - Dany N'Guessan
MC - Dennis Wise
MC - Lee Marshall
RW - Josh Low (pants)
ST - Elvis Hammond (recently had some 'financial' issues with the law too)
ST - Ade Akinbiyi (duh!)

And I couldn't resist having a few substitutes in there too for the 'why were they here?' crowd.

S1-Jimmy 'Casino' Neilson
S2-Robbie Neilson
S3- Barry Hayles
S4- Ben Thatcher (big ol' crim)
S5- Sergio Hellings
S6- Shaun Newton
S7- Trevor Benjamin

This was fun! Mega blast from the past...

Yes Mersey!! But all opinions are welcome...!

Well there's some belters among that lot, can't believe I forgot Hussein Kaebi!

What about Roberto Mancini? He'd be a decent shout for the subs bench.

Don't forget to name your managers!

Mersey, who makes your 11?
