Can we please take a minute and appreciate THAT sublime pass he made to Van Persie yesterday, which should've been a fecking goal but for poor control from the Dutchman?
Really surprised there's not been much more talk of it, especially in the media. I can't get enough of the guy. The white Zico I tell ya.

I used control to describe the error he made because it's the first word that came to my head, but basically what the Elvis lad said. He should've just shot with his left foot. Such a shame.

RVP should have headed it in 'super van' style. Great pass though. It looks like carrick is trying to make more forward/longer passes than usual. LVG probably may have asked him to be adventurous with his passing

Yeah it was a very nice pass, took a player like RVP to control it kind, most players wouldn't have been able to do anything with it at all.

Funny how Carrick used to be the hate figure at United, especially on these pages.
The days wasted on here trying to educate those who didn't understand what he did. Happy days.

I though Carrick really tired in the last 30 or so minutes and Spurs went for that weakness.
The Carrick pass I really liked was his one to Mata in the second half who then crossed it in for RVP who blazed it over. To see it so early and the weight was perfect it just looked really nice.

unfortunately with just fletcher the only cm on the bench lvg had nobody to replace carrick
I thaught LVG's tactical changes and substitutions were spot on in the end

tell me about it
had too many idiots on here calling him a crab and a sideways and backwards passer only
Carrick is easily one of the best midfielders in the pl and perhaps europe where he would more appreciated

Rvps control was fantastic. Lloris stopped the move rvp was trying to attempt. Fantastic save by him.

RVPs control was sublime but the decision to try and switch it to the right foot was the wrong one. He should have tried to poke/stud it past Lloris.

If RVP had scored it would have been a peach of a goal. His control was sublime, he just tried to take one touch too many imo. It's easy to say that retrospectively though - RVP had to make a split second decision and made the wrong one. It happens...
Some fans have been talking about that chance as though it was a sitter but not many strikers would have controlled the pass in the first place imo so that is harsh.
In fact, I think fans have been harsh on RVP in general this season. He has not been at his best but he is still our best finisher and joint top scorer. Normally he is more clinical than he has any right to be so I don't begrudge him the odd missed chance. It is only frustrating because we are not creating that many chances at the moment but that is not the fault of the strikers. The likes of Yorke and Cole were not more clinical than RVP - they just had better service so it mattered less when they missed a chance. Invariably they would get another one...(or ten).
