I feel a bit sorry for Lloyd Dyer. He could have stayed with us for a year and experienced the premiership (that he helped us get to) but chose instead to go to Watford (assume it was to play regularly). He has apparently now been told he can leave only 5 months or so later. A shame...

I do and I don't feel sorry for him.
On the one hand I was a big fan of Dyers. His contributions to a game could go from the woeful to sublime and I never blamed him when his crosses or shots went into row z because I knew he was giving it his all and was equally capable of getting it in the top corner with the next effort. While this inconsistency probably isn't what we need right now in the premiership I found it hugely entertaining, which ultimately is what I want out of a football game. I loved cheering him on and I think his loyalty over the years and key goals including his blistering right footed effort that got us up meant in my eyes he had earned a contract and would have loved to see his pace and endeavour against the best in the premier league.
On the other hand he was offered a 1 year contract and I believe if he had held out a little longer would have been offered 2 like Nugent was. He could have given it a shot and if he wasn't enjoying life with us or felt he wasn't getting enough game time could have left this January and the club might have got something back for his services. I don't think he would have devalued himself that much and believe a championship side probably still will have taken a punt on him. By leaving in the fashion he did I think he just chickened out which shows a lack of confidence in his own ability and makes it difficult for any club to look at him seriously if they're wanting to achieve promotion themselves. So because of that I struggle to feel sorry for him for too long. He made his own bed here.

I was and am a Lloyd Dyer fan. His b contribution to some of our performances was often underrated.
However, a one year deal with the chance of an extension felt about right. I'm sure he'd have got a chance given our form.
He chose to leave for b the BC security of a longer deal. Some you win, some you lose, but do I feel sorry for him? No.

no i dont feel sorry for him. I think he is a great professional and was a fantastic member of our club and always gave 100% but he probably take home more in a week than i dont a year no doubt or at least 6 months, he isnt wanted by watford but he is still under contract so money is still coming in. its a shame yes, but i dont feel sorry from him.

Something I always wondered about Lloyd Dyer: Was he an over-performer?
Some players only ever perform well in certain circumstances. I remember Matt Heath, for instance, did pretty well for us - but then his career just faded and he ended up going from club to club. Was he decent for us just because we were his home club and this was where he was settled? Well, I've often wondered the same about Lloyd Dyer - He was appreciated here and the fans got behind him like no others, encouraging to use his pace and scare defenders at every opportunity. Maybe, for whatever reason, he was a good fit with our club and our fans in a way that he could never have been elsewhere, at least not at Championship level.
In fact, more than this - he only really ever performed under Pearson, so perhaps it was simply that Pearson and his backroom team that knew how best to use him and play him.
That in mind, I'm not sure I feel sorry for him as such. It wasn't like he left for one final shot at glory - he left in order to play regularly. He can do that at a different club, or probably a lower level.

I don't feel sorry for him but I still respect Lloyd Dyer and what he did for our club.
He stuck it out through turmoil, te managerial merry-go-round and was only ever professional during a time where egos took over our club.
He never moaned when he got benched. He just trained hard, waited or his chance and then took it.
So, I'm sorry it's turned out Bangor Lloyd yes. I have some great memories of him at our club and I wish him all the best. He still comes back often to see the team and catch up with his friends.
Top bloke.
