The fact is out attack should perform better than out defence given the collector ability in those roles.
The attack therefore should have enough to see us to a win in a 352. Our defence and CM isn't good enough in a 442.
He sees the squad in action every day and knows what they are capable of. If he thought 352 couldn't work why wouldn't he change it?
And don't give me that stubbornness / ego Bollox either. Their is no ego boost in failing.

MY criticism of Van Gaal is simply the Rooney/Di maria swap.
Swap them both, play 2 of Herrera/Blind/Carrick/DonkeyFro and the team will be so much better and the formation will work.
Unfortunately Mata will have to make way.

LVG only here for another 3 years, he won't be here for 10 unless we keep clean sweeping trophies. He was reluctant to take this job only because he never managed in England. He was supposed to retire after World cup.
