Monreal the unsung hero

Just want to give some praise to Monreal, he has been really decent this season. That period at CB seems to have done him the world of good, looks like he can cope with the PL now.

He's honestly in the running for player of the season so far. Of course Alexis will win in with ease but Monreal has easily been one of our most consistent performers.

Got to eat my words too. Nacho has been great after his stint as centre back - more solid, tougher and actually 'marauding' down the left and helping out in attack. What a difference a bit of adjustment takes?

I said a few weeks before that I prefer Monreal ahead of Gibbs and people slate me.

There is a big difference between to the 2, looks how monreal carreis the ball forward, his decision making and ball control is 2x better than gibbs

Most of people didnt agree with me that he is better. Even when he had to play at CB.

Gibbs is way overrated... there is a reason that Shaw & Baines are way ahead of him in the England setup.

I don't think theres that much between them. Gibbs is more about pace and Monreal is better technically, but that's often the case with faster and slower players. on current form Monreal starts but when form changes Gibbs will be preferred.

Why is it as soon as one player looks alright, the other player is overated. Gibbs is a cracking young player, but Monreal has upped his game recently and is rightfully keeping Gibbs out of the team. That's the great thing about squad depth and competition. I'm just praising Monreal but if Gibbs comes back into the team and performs I'd be delighted as well.

Monreal is playing well, I think that Gibbs may still have the edge but it is very close at the moment and I no longer dread to see that Gibbs is not fit again.

Gibbs is a good squad player but his limitations - positioning and end product - are highlighted by Bellerins recent performances on the opposite side.

Bellerin has shown defensive positional sense, technical ability and is a genuine attacking threat with consistent end product.

Hope Gibbs makes me eat my words but he can't even displace Baines & Shaw in the England setup.
