Welcome to the first in the series D4's Classic Fights.
We will be looking back at some of the great fights of yesteryear, analysing the fights and giving our thoughts.
Today we look back to 1981's fight of the year Sugary Ray Leonard vs Tommy Hearns.

D4's Classic Fights (Leonard vs Hearns)

Fine choice D4. The ebb and flow in that fight was fantastic.
Two great young Welter's putting it on the line. This is why I get angry about what is happening in modern day boxing. Alphabet belts and closeted fighters.

Second time I've seen this fight. Hearns was unreal but his chin was really suspect, his initial punch resistance wasn't good, but his recovery was also very slow. He's probably got the best jab I've seen though, he would give any fighter from any era serious problems.

John Lock Hearn would comfortably beat manny and floyd probably knocking manny out early

D4 if RGK sees that you are in big trouble. Hearns is his fav of all time

Hearns would have had a massive reach advantage over Pacquiao, not to mention height advantage.
Pacquiao by comparison has poor reach so that would be a huge issue for him in that fight. It would be a weird fight with Pac looking like a dwarf next to 6 foot + Hearns.
Would have been like watching Haye vs Valuev

Just remember who won out of Haye and Valuev.

D4 you think manny would knock hearns out round 8? This the same manny that hasn't knocked anyone out at 147? Not a hope in hell does manny stop him Hearns jabs him to death before catching him and if marquez KOs pac Hearns puts him in a coma

Hearns knocks Pac out cold imo. Hearns was IMHO my fav fighter , not saying he was the best fighter but my god he was a joy to watch. Such an exciting fighter with a glass jaw , the right hand he landed on "hands of stone" with was the best single punch KO I've ever seen. Unbelievable right.
