They don't know how to score a goal.

After 90 minutes of fruitless Arsenal tika taka, Ruud Gullitt once correctly pointed out that the players "did not how they were going to score a goal?"

So keen was Wenger to apply beautiful football against functional teams that his players were running down cul de sacs over and over again.

Five years later, he got the right personnel.

Louis van Gaal is expected to go through this learning experience in a single season.

The dream is lovely - "Pull them around with quick passing and then when the gap appears make an incisive pass to Robin".

Wenger was doing this for years - it gets fourth at a push.

They were at least enjoyable to watch, we're not.

Wengers arsenal played tiki taka around the oppositions penalty area. We do it on the halfway line.

Silly comparison, imo

Frighteningly similar actually.

When van Gaal breaks his pen on his clipboard most weeks it really is a case of him thinking :

"How the fack did that happen? We have the better team, the better style, the better manager".
