Ever the optimist about our fortunes, I stumbled across the statistic that if the league was based solely on away performances between the 61st and 70th minute we would be second in the table (behind Arsenal). All we need to do is replicate that form across the other 80 minutes, both home and away, for the next twelve games and we will be fine. How hard can that be? If you want the details, follow this link, click on the 'scored-conc/10 min' link and then look at the 'away' tab:

Clutching at straws......

lWe could never get enough luck in the game to get a draw, I'm afraid.

At about 16.20 I looked at the scores and thought it could be worse, with a Palace win, Baggies winning, Villa losing, and Burnley, Hull and Sunderland only drawing. Final score looked much better with Burnley, Hull and Sunderland all losing too.
It's not going to make much difference though unless we get wins ourselves. It's still possible for us to get out of the relegation zone so I still have some hope.

With just 18 points going into March we're having one of the worst seasons of any team in Premier league history so I can't actually believe there is still a straw to clutch at!
However, with results continuing to go our way we're absolutely still in it. A win vs Man City would be incredible but more importantly we must beat Hull in a fortnight.
The straws have been dangling for weeks, it's time we grabbed one!

I predict that we'll follow our usual trend in the Man City game of raising our game to a level just below that of the opposition - and then repeat for Hull!

Scenario will be
We'll give Man City a right good go and fall just short. Either 1-0, 2-1 or 2-0 where we're pushing and they get their 2nd right at the end. We'll walk away saying the same old cliche that we've been saying all seaon
"play like that all for the rest of the season and we'll stay up"
Then Hull will turn up and we'll fall to pieces, play like complete donkeys and lose 1-0

TOTF- Sad but true.....

No we'll go 2-0 down, one of which to a wholly unjustified penalty and fight back brilliantly to draw 2-2, leaving the Man City fans bewildered as to how we can be propping up the Division.
We'll then not turn up against Hull at home, lose and show everybody why we're propping up the Division.

↑ I love this forum!
Despite the regular disagreements we really do all think the same!

I think we’re all saying the same thing in slightly different ways. If the same team starts against Man City that started the last game then I predict that we may hold them for a while.
The problem is that we won’t have much creativity or options in the forward positions. Krammy will be isolated, Schlupp and Mahrez will be isolated on the wings and Simpson and Konchesky won’t venture forward, or won’t venture forward with enough attacking quality to assist.
We aren’t good enough to hold Man City for the whole game, they will inevitably score, probably twice and then we might make a change when the game is effectively lost. We will then proceed to be much more creative in the final twenty minutes, but risk conceding at the other end. It will probably end 2-1 or 3-0.

How about after realising they cant win the Premiership and Barcelona result means they are looking to give someone a good tonking. Overconfidence on cold March night and we take our chances play 10 at the back and come away with a win.
We will go on to beat Hull and Everton drop into the bottom three. Finally we need to beat Chelsea at home to stay up what could possibly go wrong.
