And our season is finished
It gets worse and worse and worse.
What is it that has some so hooked on LVG?
Surely it can't only be his CV?
I have to be missing something. We've been dross all season and our new manager has been found wanting at every turn.
Neville is a for making me stick with him

I think he'll still be in charge next season anyway even if we finish outside the top four which I think is likely to be the case.
-------------------------
I'm not in the LvG out camp just yet, but my biggest concern is that we fail to get 4th, he stays and we ship out all the players that don't fit his philosophy.
Mata, Herrera, Nani, Chico and Rafael would likely be the first to go and just takes us a step further away from a squad that could play some attacking football.
I'm sure people could counter that by saying LvG will get success with his type of player, but what if it doesn't work and we end next season with a bunch of players that fit LvG, but not many other managers?

Good point
Club have to apoint a DOF, IF LVG is sacked at the end of the season imo. United cannot afford an overhaul whenever we change managers

Agreed.
And I seem to remember the majority of this board used to complain abut 4-4-2 and called it dinosaur tactics, during SAF's penultimate season.
Can't have it both ways.
The only UTD "blueprint" that I would love to be set in stone is to try and bring through our own players, whenever possible.
I hope we don't ever become so scared of failure that we don't bring through anyone, like Chelsea and City.

Cmon on Guys.. behave. We all want whats best for United
Football has always been a results business.
However Man United have (generally, since the war) always achieved all our success playing with a barn storming swagger, with an emphasis on entertainment and value for money and promoting homegrown and youth development as a major contributor to the first team squad whilst being mentored by long standing senior players. Oh and yes, by getting the ball out wide as soon as possible.
This is what I was brought up on and this to me was the Busby blueprint. He said that if the club adopted this approach people would flock to OT to pay and watch it, buy match programmes, scarves and merchandise, Bovrils beers and pies and United would become the richest and most powerful club in the land. And he was dead right.
Now I didnt see Busbys era, I started with the Doc.His team was probably the most entertaining United team I have seen (Coppel Pearson Macari and Hill) along with Fergies first 2 teams (Giggs Ince Sharpe Kanchelskis) and (Giggs Becks Keano and Scholes). Then there was Fergies last team (Ronaldo, Rooney VDS Rio and Vidic)
All these teams played the 'United Way'. and OT every week was bursting at the rafters.
Any manager who didnt adopt this philosophy, like it or not has failed at United. Sexton Ron Moyes, and now LVG.
If LVG wants us to play this poccession game then for his own sake he need to win playing it, because as long as he does get the points most United fans will put up with it.
Problem for him is that he isnt winning with his own philosophy.
He has just 12 games to make it work.
Anybody actually believe that with the fixtures we have to play we will get top 4.
Thought not.
If we have to endure him next season without the CL....offering the same dour fayre, the fallout will be catastrophic for him. Attendances will begin to drop. Interest from fans will wane, (ja606 is a classic example) The Dark Days will set in again

Out of interest, who do you want to replace LVG if he is sacked at the end of the season?

I want Jose to have a go. He wont be asked though

Yeah, Club made a huge blunder when we opt to go with moyes instead of Jose. I dont think he is a realistic option at the moment.
I think Its inevitable that united will deviate from the traditional wing play if we hire one of the top coaches. Most of the top candidates for the job prefers either the ball hogging possession based style of football or the narrow counterattacking style of football with inverted wingers.
Other option is to appoint giggs or Ole to keep the SAF's traditions and ethos going. which is a far bigger risk imo
